I’ve been set up with a lot of amazing opportunities in my 20 years of life. With those years, I've also learned a few things here and there about what life really should be like. I know that I have so much more coming my way.. But for now, I have to look back on these years and reminisce the lessons that have shaped me into the person I am.
- Being perfect is impossible and someone will always see a “flaw” in you.
- Being called “hot” or “attractive” really doesn't matter. Beauty fades, It’s who you are as a person that should matter the most.
- Your friends you thought would stay forever, may not.. But that’s okay.
- Your parents are right 99.8% of the time.
- Other people's concept of beauty should never define your own sense of beauty. A number on a scale, that shade of makeup that is too damn expensive, the guy who thinks you aren’t good enough… none of that matter if you truly believe in your own personal beauty. Having a beautiful soul is 100X better than having great hair and a perfect body.
- You’ll never be able to fall in love with someone until you fall in love with yourself.
- The expectations you make for yourself are generally way too unrealistic.
- Procrastination is okay as long as you don’t let it define you.
- Making mistakes is inevitable. It’s what you do with those mistakes that really make or break you.
- Questioning if you are doing the right thing is ridiculous.. You are.
- Putting others before yourself is okay for awhile, but eventually you have to put yourself in the front.
- You have to stop tearing yourself down before building yourself up can even begin.
- Laugh at yourself every once in awhile.
- Stress is only temporary.. What comes after is so worth it.
- Let yourself feel real feelings.
- You have so many people supporting you and loving you unconditionally.
- People really lied when they said high school is the best years of your life.. Don’t let those years define you.
- Call your family every chance you can. Without them.. You are nothing.
- Stop living to make others proud.. Instead.. Live to make yourself proud of the person you’ve become.
- Live every moment like it’s your last. Being 20 years old is terrifying and amazing all wrapped into one emotional mess. There will always be the excuse “I’ll start tomorrow”.. Start now. Today is a new day, and one day you’ll look back at your first 20 years as a faint memory. Laugh way too often, cry if you need to, and smile.. Because you’re doing amazing.
