We all know what it’s like to be a broke college student. We all want to do something special with our significant other especially when you both have time in the nice warm summer weather. The list of the things you both can do is fun and inexpensive.

1. A day at the lake

Nothing bonds a couple more than spending an entire day together out in the sun, tanning, and having a good time.

2. Drive in movie theater

Although this may be uncommon nowadays, but nothing is better than sitting in a car watching a movie, eating junk food, and becoming your very own Danny and Sandy.

3. Star Gazing

Nothing is more romantic than laying under the stars and just enjoying each other's presence.

4. Picnicking

Take the beautiful summer weather to your advantage and take the time to savor great food and each other outside on a picnic.

5. Grill

Enjoy a good meal together on the patio.

6. Bike Rides

You may be surprised at how much you bond during a bike ride. This also gives you both a little exercise.

7. Explore each other's hometown

There’s no better bonding than showing your significant other where you grew up.

8. Hike

This gives you a way to see beautiful sites together, nothing is better than that.

9. Mini Golfing

A little competitive game is always good. It gives you another side of your significant other that you may not always see.

Who doesn’t like the zoo. This may even allow you to see a totally different side of your significant other when it comes to animal loving.

It's definitely fun going on rides, especially with someone special. It can get both of your adrenaline pumping.

Enjoy the beauty the city brings. There is always something to do in the cities together.


13. Go for a Drive

This allows you both to talk and connect without any distractions. Also you could potentially find new places to explore.


14. Watch the Sunset

You could definitely watch the sunset before stargazing. This is very romantic.


15. Game Night

Maybe a game night outside instead of inside. This will allow you to enjoy the nice warm summer weather.


16. Paintballing

Something the guy will definitely love to do. It would definitely be something fun and competitive.


17. Bonfire

This doesn’t have to be just the two of you, invite friends over and have a good time by the fire. It is always fun to have a bonfire with the ones you love.


18. Watch a local sport

This gives you both time to sit back, relax, drink some beer, and watch a game.


19. Waterpark

What could be more fun, than going to the waterpark together. It gives you the excitement and the adrenaline a waterpark brings.


20. Go out for Ice Cream

Nothing is better than getting cool off by eating something tasty and yummy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
