This year marks the last year I can consider myself a "teenager." Yep, I'm turning the big 2-0 and it honestly doesn't feel as great as I had imagined it. The funny thing about aging no one really tells you, is slowly but surely, you take on more and more responsibilities without even realizing it. Before you know it, your life is all school, work, homework, bills, obligation after obligation and no fun. It can become extremely taxing to be an "adult" all the time, and with summer vastly approaching, there's no better way to blow off some steam then to grab your best pals and go to a concert. Luckily for you, I've compiled a list of 20 concerts you absolutely must see before accepting another year of responsibility into your life.
1. All Time Low
Nothing says "reliving your teen rebellion" than seeing All Time Low live. Also, losing your shoe in the pit is a relatively good time.
2. Green Day
Green Day is the best band ever, in my totally biased opinion. Do yourself a favor and catch them on their world tour this summer and have the time of your life--no pun intended.
3. The Maine
The Maine continues to be one of the most underrated bands out there. Their melodic riffs and bone-chilling lyrics are the perfect escape from your worldly worries. Additionally, I sprained my ankle while jumping along with roughly 500+ people in unison to "Girls Do What They Want." Highly recommend.
4. The Chainsmokers
I know what you're all thinking; The Chainsmokers are overrated, not talented, your basic pop bubble gum yadda yadda yadda. But just hear me out on this one: let your biases go for one minute, grab a drink, and go crazy to "Closer" and "Paris," because I know you know the lyrics, and life's too short to pretend you don't.
5. 5 Seconds of Summer
Despite what everyone says, 5 Seconds of Summer are more than just that band that wrote "the underwear song." Their second studio album. Sounds Good Feels Good features a ton of hits as well as some emotional ballads that really tug at your heart strings. You simply can't pass up an opportunity to see 5SOS whenever they come near you on tour.
6. State Champs
Pop punk has never been the same since State Champs hit the scene. These guys are some of the most hard-working, dedicated and talented people in the music industry. Nothing but love for them.
7. Paramore
I experienced my first Paramore show in 2015, and I can safely say I've never been the same since. The way they make the biggest room feel so intimate is incredible. You can't help but feel the love. Do yourself a favor and go to a Paramore show.
8. The Summer Set
It's been a rough few years for The Summer Set, but their latest album Stories For Monday is nothing short of a masterpiece. Nostalgic lyrics and an overall laid back vibe, The Summer Set is quite literally, the best summer set to see. (Get it? Set? I love puns)
9. The Word Alive
Passionate, energetic, dedicated, these three words sum up The Word Alive. It literally feels like the roof is going to cave in when these guys take the stage.
10. Nick Jonas
Obvious reasons.
11. Demi Lovato
This girl is practically perfect in every way, and she has some KILLER pipes. Why WOULDN'T you go see Demi Lovato?
12. Ed Sheeran
Honestly, if I have to convince you to see Ed Sheeran using more than just his name, I've lost all hope for humanity. Just go see Ed Sheeran.
13. The 1975
You knew this one was coming!
14. Waterparks
The singer, Awsten Knight, has blue hair, and they may even take you to an actual water park, so you know you're in for a good time.
15. DNCE
If I can't have the JoBros together as a band, I'll take their individual musical projects. Whether together or apart, these brothers know how to create an interactive show you won't soon forget.
16. James Bay
Because...who wouldn't want to experience James Bay live in the flesh?
17. Twenty-One Pilots
Nothing says summer like these two things: concerts and twenty-one pilots.
18. Kris Allen
If knowing you would hear "Live Like We're Dying," "Time Will Come," "Waves," Feeling This Way," "Letting You In," live doesn't persuade you to see him live, I don't really know what else to say.
19. We The Kings
You never really get over your We The Kings stage, so why pretend?
20. Mayday Parade
I could probably write a book about all the reasons why you should make Mayday Parade a must on your concert list, but I won't bore you with all the details. See for yourself!
