19 Thoughts Every Band Member Has During Band Camp

Band camp can last a while, and when you're doing the same thing every day, the same thoughts will go through your head as well.

There are two different types of reactions when school lets out and summer starts.

There are the students who can't get out fast enough, and the ones who linger behind to spend as much time with their roommates and friends as possible.

Then there's the band kids who are a small mix of both.

When the summer ends, however, it's very obvious that absolutely no one wants to go back. Unfortunately, the band is blessed enough to move back to school a week or two before everyone else.

If you are or were involved in marching band, you'll relate to these 19 points way too well.

1. "Why do I have to be here so early?"

That first 8 AM rehearsal really gets to you.

2. "We only get an hour for lunch?"

That definitely isn't enough time to eat when you're super hungry.

3. "I can't wait to mess with the freshmen."

If you're a freshman, this doesn't apply. And if you aren't, have fun.

4. "What time is it?"

The question of the day. And basically, all week.

5. "Will food be provided?"

The best part of things is when there's free food.

6. "I wonder how long I can sit in the bathroom to miss rehearsal?"

Those slow rehearsals in the concert hall really start to get boring when you're sitting in one spot after marching all morning.

7. "Seriously, has it only been 5 minutes??"

Looking at your watch all the time doesn't help either.

8. "Can we have a break?"

You need to do something to keep yourself awake.

9. "We've been over this part like, 50 times already!"

Now it's just getting annoying.

10. "When can I go home?"

You're waiting to be praised for hard work and told that you can leave early.

11. " If I just leave, what would happen?"

We've all wondered it at some point.

12. "I really need to clean my instrument."

It gets pretty gross when you're outside for so long.

13. "When's dinner?"

Lunch was only 4 hours ago, but you're starving!

14. "I don't like this song."

Time goes by even slower when your director tells you to pull out your least favorite stand tune...

15. "I LOVE THIS SONG!"

... and then your director only runs through your favorite one once.

16."I'm so tired."

It's hard to stay focused when you're literally a zombie.

17. "I almost fell asleep in rehearsal, how come I can't sleep now that I'm in bed??"

You found yourself nodding off while you were sitting in a hard plastic chair, but now that you're in the most comfortable place in the world, you just can't sleep.

18. "Ugh, I have to do this again tomorrow..."

Realizing that you're 7 hours away from getting up and repeating your schedule is a nightmare.

19. "I can't wait to do this all over again tomorrow!"

But you know that your love for marching outweighs everything and you'd be nothing without it.

I love music and marching. And I love them both even more when they're put together.

This isn't entirely accurate, as I know you have to make sacrifices to get better. I can't wait to see what my second season of college band has to offer me, and I wish luck to anyone else who is also going back.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
