19 Harry Potter Quotes Everyone Needs To Remember

In honor of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child coming out last weekend, and my own love of Harry Potter, I’d like to dedicate this article to J.K. Rowling for creating the world that so many people have grown up with. It’s a world unlike any other, and it’s a place many go to when they want to escape reality for a while. It’s a world with magic around every corner and new surprises everywhere you go. It’s a world filled with bad and good; and a world many like to call home, even though it’s fictional. If you tell any Harry Potter fan that magic doesn’t exist or that Hogwarts and Diagon Alley isn’t real, they will tell you this: “it’s real for us.” And that’s all that matters. Each of these quotes, while having been written about the wizarding world can also be related to the real world. These quotes are quotes that everyone should remember in their daily lives. So in celebration of the ability for all of us to explore Hogwarts and the rest of the wizarding world from the perspective of a new generation, I give you some of my favorite quotes from the 'Harry Potter' series.

“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“I am what I am an’ I’m not ashamed. ‘Never be ashamed,’ my ol’ dad used ter say, ‘there’s some who’ll hold it against you, but they’re not worth bothern’ with.’” – Hagrid, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” - Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

“We’re all human, aren’t we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving.” – Kingsley Shacklebolt, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” – Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

“Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

“Do not pity the dead, Harry, pity the living, and above all those who live without love.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

“Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both influencing injury, and remedying it.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

“Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect.” – Luna Lovegood, Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix

“We can’t choose our fate, but we can choose others. Be careful in knowing that.” – Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

“The ones that love us never really leave us. You can always find them, in here.” – Sirius Black, 'here' referring to the heart, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

“You all righ’? he (Hagrid) said gruffly. “Yeah,” said Harry. “No yeh’re not.” Said Hagrid. “’Course yeh’re not. But yeh will be.” – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“What’s life without a little risk? “ – Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

“After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape. – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Bonus! 3 of my favorite quotes from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. (No spoilers, don't worry!)

“Don’t stop and don’t be scared you’ll crash into it, that’s very important. Best to do it at a run if you’re nervous.” – Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

“My father proved you don’t have to be grown-up to change the wizarding world.” – Albus Severus Potter, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

“That’s the thing, isn’t it? About friendships. You don’t know what he needs. You only know he needs it.” – Delphi, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
