I understand there are girls who know just as much, or even more, about cars than guys do. I'm not one of them. In fact, I find getting anything in or on my car fixed pretty terrifying. We'll start with when you first pull up to the auto shop:
1. This is an intimidating situation.
2. There are 20 men surrounding me that know the answer to every question they are about to ask.
3. How far do I pull up? Too far? My heart is racing.
4. Why didn't I just make Dad come with me?
5. I may or may not be too nervous to remember how to turn on my lights.
6. Note to self: Whatever you do, do not accidentally spray the windshield wiper fluid.
7. "You want new wipers? New filter? Replace your battery?" Should I just get a new car?
8. This guy just brought me a filter and asked if I wanted a new one. Why not?
9. Conventional? Unconventional? Are we still talking about cars?
10. Should I get out of my car... or...?
11. Oh, OK, I'll stay in my car.
12. No? Yes? This is awkward. I'll just stare at my phone.
13. I've already seen all these social media posts, but I'm just going to keep scrolling to avoid eye contact.
14. What do I say when you show me the oil dipstick? Looks great...
15. Am I supposed to feel comfortable surrounded by these men speaking a different language?
16. Why are they yelling things at each other?
17. They're talking about me. Are they talking about me?
18. Finally, they’re done. I think they’re all laughing, but it’s fine.
