June 24, 2015, was the premier of the 17th season of the CBS hit reality series, "Big Brother." Sixteen strangers moved into the Big Brother house and began the fight for half a million dollars. Each week they competed in a Head of Household competition, the winner of which would nominate two other houseguests to face eviction Thursday night, unless they could win the Power of Veto Competition. One by one, the houseguests were sent home. On Wednesday, Sept. 23, only three remained.
Vanessa Rausso entered the game with a secret. She told her fellow houseguests that she was a DJ, while in reality she is a professional poker player; ranked the second best female player in the world with winnings totaling $4.5 million in the past 10 years. Her ability to read people and call their bluffs is perhaps what got her so far in this game.
Liz Nolan was the center of attention at the beginning of the summer. During this season’s "‘Twin Twist," she was actually two people. Liz and her twin, Julia, were both playing the game as one person, Liz. The houseguests had no idea what was going on for the first couple of weeks, until they began to figure out that "Liz" did not always act the same. After surviving five evictions, Julia was able to enter the game as an individual. Unfortunately for her, only one twin remained in the final three.
Steve Moses, a 22-year-old college student, has been a lifelong fan of the show. When he entered the game, he knew exactly what to expect and exactly what kind of strategy would most likely get him to the end of the game. He laid low for the first half of the summer, but he has not been afraid to make big moves and take out big players in the last few weeks of the game.
On Wednesday, Steve and Vanessa competed in the final Head of Household competition. When Steve won, he immediately evicted Vanessa from the house, securing Liz and himself as the final two. Soon after, the eight houseguests who had been evicted most recently cast their votes as to who should win between the two of them. Steve won the $500,000 by a score of 5-3.
In an interview with show host Julie Chen, he admitted not knowing how he was going to spend the money. Well Steve, looks like you won’t have a problem paying off your student loans!
