The beginning of the new year is ther perfect time for a fresh start and for self improvement, as cliche as it may sound. I'm all about self improvement so I put together a list of 17 easy things to improve on in 2017 to be a happier and healthier you!

1. Talk less, listen more.

2. Drink more water.

3. Focus less on the negatives and more on the positives.

4. Stress less about things you have no control over.

5. Keep your room tidy.

6. Focus and study more.

7. Eat more vegetables and fruits, instead of junk.

8. Spend less time in bed and more time exercising.

9. Put your phone down and truly engage in whatever you are doing.

10. Donate things you no longer need.

11. Try new things.

12. Unsubscribe from email lists you no longer are interested in that clog your inbox.

13. Eat out less and instead cook more.

14. Spend more quality time with the people you love.

15. Read more instead of binge watching shows.

16. Unfollow people and brands on social media who you no longer enjoy seeing.

17. Spend more time outdoors.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
