As a retail worker, I know its hard to keep your mouth shut some times. So I thought I'd write this one for all the fellow retail workers out there that are still keeping their mouths shut today or got fired from not keeping it shut.
1. Stop ignoring us
I get it, you had a rough day but please for the sake of not bringing anyone else down, do not take it out on me.
2. If you’re in a hurry, you probably shouldn’t have procrastinated.
Don’t be rude to me because you’re in a hurry. I will literally take as much time as I want just to intentionally make this transaction slower.
3. Please put things back where you found them.
It’s not hard.. just do it.
4. Please get off the phone while you’re at check out.
It forces me to interrupt you.
5. Actually read the sales correctly.
It did not say 50% off, it said buy one get one 50% off.
6. If I try to make conversation with you, don’t be rude.
I am trying to be nice, and you flat out are ignoring me.
7. For the love of god, please carry your store card.
It makes it easier on everyone.
8. Keep your opinions to yourself.
Oh you think the store is dirty? Tell my manager, not me.
9. If I’m not at the register, find me.
Knocking on the counter or shouting “Is anyone here?” will only make me annoyed and walk slower.
10. The manager will agree with me.
So no you do not need to speak with him/her.
11. We have lives too.
We like to get out on time so do not come in with 5 minutes to close.
12. Don’t ramble off your phone number.
I’m not on the screen to enter in your phone number. Please just ASK me to enter it in, and don’t say “yeah I have one” then stand there.. ASK me to enter the phone number.
13. Please, HAND ME YOUR CASH
Don’t throw your change at me. I will happily throw your change back.
14. Don’t toss your stuff at me
Place it on the counter, like a respectable person.
15. Put your stuff back if you don’t want it..
If you decide mid-checkout that you don’t want something then you can put it back, I’m not your maid.
16. If you’re clearly many years older than me, don’t hit on me.
Perve.
17. No I will not break your 100$ bill when you’re spending like 4 dollars.
I will have to worry about all my smaller bills for the rest of the day.
