Going abroad is a beautiful time filled with self discovery, traveling, memorable nights, and delicious food. Those abroad get a chance to immerse themselves in a new culture thus perceiving the world through a foreign lens. They live in an unfamiliar country and come to know it as their own. Ask anyone about traveling aboard, and they all seem to carry the same sentiments. Traveling during college opens the mind to a world filled with potential and possibility.
Sounds great, right? No. Nope. Wrong. For those remaining behind watching their friends bid the United States farewell, it can be quite the struggle.

You still can't get over the initial shock because you really don't understand why they're leaving. American has plenty to offer -- go explore the next town over.
You don't want to hear anymore about it, so you do the only mature thing...
Unfortunately, it doesn't take too long for reality to hit you. Hard.
You pretend to be happy for them anyways because, after all, they're your BFFs. And when they're happy, so are you.
Soon enough, they start planning excursions and ask if you'd be willing to help.
The squad decides that everyone needs a night out, but that quickly goes south as Adele songs start flirting with your emotions.
Naturally, you take a mental walk down memory lane.
You reminisce about rejuvenating midnight singing sessions. "Seasons of Love" is your go-to.
And 9 times out of 10, the singing was accompanied with some serious choreographed dancing.

You snapped back to reality and disregard your crumbling feelings. *Focus on the party. Focus on the moment.*

You realize that you're causing a scene, so you quickly compose yourself together. *Deep breathing.*
Bystanders ask if everything is OK, to which you respond appropriately.
An apology for being emotionally unstable is fitting for the situation.
Heading home, you realize that, even if your BFF is gone, pizza will forever be there.
Although they haven't left yet, you can't help but secretly count down the days for their return.
