College friendships are weird. Most of the time you live with them, or among them, and you see them sometimes once a day. You make bonds you never had before, and you hang out with people you never imagined you would.
College brings a lot of different people into your life for various reasons, and Spongebob’s here to represent a few of them:
1. The mom friend
They don’t have to be female to be the mom friend. The mom friend loves to clean, cook, and take care of others. You’ll probably roll your eyes when they say “text me when you get home” or “maybe you should grab a jacket," but you listen because you know they’re right.
2. The party friend
You’re not really sure where your party friend finds all the parties they go to, but you know they’re probably out on the town. They’re your go-to when you want to get lit, or if you just need a fun time.
3. The stressed friend
Whenever you see this friend they probably have their hair in a mess, bags under their eyes, and a coffee in hand. They do a lot so you kind of get why they’re stressed, but you also don’t really understand why they do so much.
4. The existential friend
They probably have a lava lamp and read weird poetry. They’re quirky and you like to hang out with them when you want to feel deep, but sometimes you need a break because it’s not always that serious.
5. The gym-rat friend
Using your university’s gym to the fullest, this friend will update you on how much they lift and their Snapchats will probably always be a photo of them in a gym mirror.
6. The supportive friend
This special friend magically stumbled into your life as a ball of positivity. They are always there to push you through your studying, encourage you before an interview and just be an overall support system throughout college.
7. The cool friend
You’re not really sure when this friend goes to class or where they get the money for their Instagram-worthy clothes, but you always see cool Snapchats and Instagram photos of them doing cool things throughout campus, town, and sometimes the world.
8. The creative friend
Probably some type of art major, this friend is constantly doing artsy things and their room aesthetic is on point. Their in-class doodles are to die for and if you need help with anything creative, they can lend a hand.
9. The athletic friend
It doesn’t really matter what sport this friend is playing, all that matters is that they’re into it. They live, eat, and breathe their sport and they will make sure you know when, where, and who their next game is against. Plus, they are probably wearing their jersey in their profile photo.
10. The dramatic friend
Sometimes a little much, the dramatic friend is always a form of entertainment. Yes, they might cry more than everyone else, but they also can turn a dull class into an amazing story later.
11. The shy friend
Rarely seen, but always appreciated, the shy friend likes to hide away in their dorm room or in the library until carefully coerced out by the promise of minimum social interaction and food.
12. The caffeine-junky friend
This friend is constantly drinking some form of caffeine: energy drinks, 5-Hour Energy, and definitely coffee. You’ve never seen them sleep before but you assume they have to at some point… right?
13. The together friend
This friend is what you imagine yourself to be like in five years: stable job, realistic future plans, stable financial situation, probably a long-term relationship. You’re not even sure how this friend is a college student because they seem like a full-fledged adult.
14. The binge-watch friend
This friend is up to date on all of the shows on Netflix, Hulu, or any other binge-watch site. They’re perfect for when you want to sit on the couch all day, but you’re not exactly sure when they get any work done.
15. The determined friend
This friend is constantly striving to be the best, even when it seems rather impossible. Sometimes you worry they’re going to burn out, but they somehow always manage to stay on top and continue trying their best for the next assignment, project, test, interview, etc.
16. The "bad influence" friend
They’re not *that* bad of an influence, they just push you out of your comfort zone. This is the friend who pushed you to talk to that cutie you had your eyes on or had you skip class to get those concert tickets you really wanted. If you constantly followed their influence you might be in trouble, but most of the time they just want you to live more.
17. The forever friend
Maybe you’ve known them since birth or maybe you just met them in class last quarter, but either way, you’ll have found at least one friend for life. College friends are like family; you live with them, you eat with them, you see them every day, and through all of that you make a bond like you never have before.
No matter if you’re one friend or a combination of a few, there’s a place for you in college, and you’re bound to find friends for every occasion.
