Halloween is less than a week away, and while most of you may have had your costume picked out for months, some of us have put off deciding on a Halloween costume until the last possible minute! It's so hard to come up with something that's clever, yet at the same time cute. You want your costume to be original, but you don't want to spend an entire paycheck on a something that you'll wear for just one night. Maybe you're a busy person and don't have time to spend weeks planning out the perfect costume. But let's be honest, like me, you're probably just lazy AF and don't want to put a lot of effort into it. Either way, there's no need to worry! Here's 17 easy, cheap Halloween costumes for people who are lazy AF!


1. Crazy Cat Lady

What You Need: A robe, fuzzy slippers, rollers, and a few stuffed cats!

How-To: Attach the cats to your robe, slip on your fuzzy slippers, throw some rollers in your hair and go!

2. Flo from Progressive

What You Need: A white apron, white collared shirt, a pair of white pants, a headband, red lipstick, a name tag, a button and a blue marker!

How-To: Write or print the Progressive logon on the apron, make a name tag and button, tease your hair, then get out there and sell some insurance!

3. Ron Swanson

What You Need: A red long sleeve polo shirt, black or khaki pants, a belt, a white coffee cup, and a fake (or real) mustache

How-To: Get dressed, comb your 'stache, and go try to dismantle the federal government!

4. When Life Give You Lemons

What You Need: A white t-shirt, a fabric marker, lemons!

How-To: Write LIFE on the t-shirt and hand out lemons!

5. Identity Thief

What You Need: A dark-colored hoody, dark sunglasses, and name tags!

How-To: Write a bunch of random names on the name tags, stick them all over your hoody, put on your shades, and go be sketchy!

6. Brawny Man

What You Need: A red and black flannel, jeans, and a roll of Brawny paper towels

How-To: Get dressed and carry around a roll of paper towels! So easy!

7. Bob Ross

What You Need: A blue button down, jeans, a paintbrush, a paint pallet, and an afro.

How-To: Get dressed, adjust your afro, and get ready to paint some masterpieces!

8. Rosie the Riveter

What You Need: A denim or blue button down, jeans, and a red bandana

How-To: Roll up the sleeve of your button down, tie your hair with the bandana, and be fierce!

9. A Big Kid

What You Need: A onesie a stuffed animal

How-To: Throw your hair up in pigtails, put on your super comfy onesie, grab your stuffed animal, and you're all set!

10. Nerd

What You Need: A button down shirt, suspenders, bow-tie, and a pair of wide-rim glasses!

How-To: Pull your pants up super high, tuck in your shirt, slap on the suspenders, bow-tie, and glasses and go!

11. Mime

What You Need: A black and white striped shirt, black pants, a black hat, some white face paint, and black eyeliner!

How-To: Using the white face paint and black eyeliner, paint your face to look like a mimes, throw on the shirt, pants, and hat and viola!

12. Grapes

What You Need: A bunch of purple or green balloons, tape, green paper, and scissors!

How-To: Blow up a bunch of balloons and stick them on your clothes! You can add a green hairpiece by cutting out some leaves from green paper!

13. Holy Cow

What You Need: A set of angle wings, a white t-shirt, a black marker and some wiring and foil to make a halo!

How-To: Using the black marker, draw cow spots on the t-shirt! Make a halo out of wiring and foil, strap on your angle wings, and moooooove it on out the door!

14. Mail Stripper

What You Need: Some junk mail, scissors, and tape.

How-To: Cut the junk mail into strips and tape the strips to your shirt! Super easy and super clever!

15. Raining Cats and Dogs

What You Need: An umbrella, stuffed cats and dogs, a rain coat or poncho, and string!

How-To: Using the string, attach the cats and dogs to the umbrella. Then put on your rain coat or poncho and you're all set!

16. Scarecrow

What You Need: A flannel, a pair of jeans, a straw hat, black eyeliner, and red lipstick!

How-To: Paint your face to look like a scarecrow, then throw on your flannel, jeans and straw hat! Now you're ready to scare away some crows!

17. Cat

What You Need: Cat ears and tail, clothes to match your cat ears and tail, and black eyeliner!

How-To: Draw on a nose and some whiskers, pin on your ears and tail, and meowww!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
