17 Cliche Quotes That Don't Make Sense

You know those quotes you hear so much that you just accept them as truth? Well some of them are pretty dumb -- especially these.

1. "You are what you eat."

Um....no. Last time I checked I am not a Chipotle burrito, I am a human being.

2. "Stars don't shine without darkness."

Yes they do, you just can't see them as well, but I'm sure they don't have an on and off switch.

3. "Money can't buy happiness."

Homie, I can think of a million things that I could buy that would bring me happiness. A ticket to Disney World, Chick-fil-A, extremely soft blankets, puppies, the Harry Potter box set -- the options are endless.

4. "Never regret something that once made you smile."

Have you ever had food poisoning, friend?

5. "It is what it is."

This quote is just accepting defeat and not taking control of your own circumstances.

6. "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."

This makes no sense considering the moon is 93 million miles away from the nearest star. So you definitely will not land among the stars.

7. "Live for the nights you'll never remember with the friends you'll never forget."

Are they really that great of friends if you forget the nights you hang out with them? Find more important things to live for.

8. "Live, laugh, love."

Just stop.

9. "You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince."

Maybe I'm not looking for my prince by kissing a bunch of frogs.

10. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."

False. Lemonade also requires water and sugar.

11."Live every day like it's your last."

If we all followed this advice, we would never graduate college because we'd be too busy living it up on our last day.

12. "It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile."

Do people physically frown when they're sad? I definitely don't.

13. "Keep calm and carry on."

How am I supposed to keep calm when my favorite character dies on "Game of Thrones"?! How?!

14. "Do one thing every day that scares you."

This just seems irresponsible. I'm not messing with spiders or heights, thanks.

15. "Every girl is beautiful. Sometimes it just takes the right guy to see it."

Stop judging your beauty based on what a guy thinks. Stop.

16. "Too blessed to be stressed."

I think we can all agree that we are very blessed in life but that still doesn't keep us from being stressed during finals. It just doesn't work like that.

17. "All's fair in love and war."

If this was an accepted quote, then the world would be in ruins.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
