16 Things I Want My Little Brother To Know
Linn Ha

To my little brother,

You are getting so old so fast and it's hard to keep up with you. Don't forget about your big sister, and don't forget that I love you! Here are 16 things that I want you to know:

1. You will always be my baby brother.

No matter how far or how old you are, you will forever remain my baby brother and I will always be your big sister, who forced you to play Barbies with me.

2. No matter what, I got your back.

When you're in a conflict or if you're getting yelled at by Mom, I will always have your back. Unless I'm in trouble too, then you're on your own there, buddy.

3. Even though we have clashing schedules, I will always be able to make time for you.

Between both of our busy schedules, it's hard to find time to hang out with each other. But I enjoy our time when we go to get breakfast, or when we just go out to get bubble tea. If you ever need me, never hesitate to reach out.

4. I'm overprotective because in my eyes, you are still my baby.

I cried when you broke your arm at my 5th birthday party, and I cried when the doctor tried to take your cast off. You're my little monkey and I will always see you as my baby brother. Although I can't do much to help you now that you're getting older, I will do whatever I can to keep you safe.

5. I only tease you out of love.

When I tickle you or when I make fun of you, it's all because I love you! I never mean to make you upset or angry, I'm just looking to play around and have some fun with you.

6. When I get angry, it's not your fault.

Sometimes I get moody (as do you) and I let it out on you. It's not always your fault! Sometimes, it is. But that's another story for another day.

7. Please don't grow up.

In a few years you'll be driving, then you'll be off to college. Before I know it, you'll be getting married and having your own family. Don't take your youth for granted. Have fun while you still have the chance!

8. Learn from the mistakes I made.

Don't make the same mistakes I did. You have a lot of potential in life and you have me, Mom, and Dad behind you. Be the greatest person you can be!

9. Respect Mom and Dad.

Not only did they give you life, they gave you food, clothes, and a home to live in. Don't take that for granted. Say "please" and "thank you", and tell them you love them every day.

10. Never change who you are for anyone else.

No matter how much I tease you for your huge head or for your obnoxious laugh, never change. You're perfect the way you are! And if anyone tells you to change, you can show them where the door is.

11. School is important.

I know playing games and hanging out with your friends can be fun, but you need to make sure your homework and studying is done before you go have fun.

12. Work hard, but make time for yourself.

Don't spend all your waking time studying. Make sure you go out with friends, see a movie, or play video games.

13. Keep God first.

He loves you. God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good!

14. You can always come to me for advice.

If you're having school problems, friend issues, or even girl problems (wink, wink), you can always come to me! I promise to never judge you, and I will always give you the best advice I can give you.

15. Friends come and go, but family will always be here.

We will always be here for you, so don't forget about us!

16. I love you always.

You will always be my little brother. I love you more than anything in the whole wide world!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
