As teenagers, we all make stupid mistakes. Whether it's caking a ridiculous amount of makeup on our faces every day, caring too much about what others think of us, or being WAY too self-centered, they're necessary to make in order to learn from them and become the best versions of ourselves. Without further ado, here are 16 things I'd tell my 16-year-old self.
1. Don't care so much about what others think of you, and don't be afraid to stand out

2. For the love of God, learn how to apply makeup properly! Cake face is NOT cute.

3. Don't question your parents' decisions; they always have your best interest in mind.

4. Don't be afraid to talk to new people and make new friends; step outside of your comfort zone!

5. Don't freak out over one bad grade. There's more to life than excelling academically; it's not the end of the world.

6. Stop being so self-centered. There are people in your life who care about you and need your help. The world doesn't revolve around you, and nobody likes a self-absorbed brat.

7. Don't doubt yourself...EVER. You are an intelligent, beautiful, kind, determined woman who has gifts to share with the world.

8. Never stop being kind to others; you'll never know how much impact a smile or a kind gesture can make on someone else.

9. LOVE YOURSELF!
10. Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right to you, it probably isn't. Don't let others' opinions guide your decisions; do what YOU think is right.
11. Friends come and go, but family is forever. I know it's cliche, but it's true. They'll always stand by you 100% and love you unconditionally. As annoying as your family may seem right now, you'll learn to appreciate them as you move forward in life.

12. Enjoy high school while it lasts; life only gets harder from here. I know you're desperate to graduate and escape the sea of drama and immaturity that comes with it. While the high school years may not be the best time of your life, you should savor every moment.

13. Never stop liking Coldplay just because someone told you they suck...TBH, it's the greatest band in the universe!

14. Always take advantage of the opportunities you're given, no matter how big or small. They have the potential to make huge, positive impacts on your life.

15. Be courageous and follow your own path. Don't let anyone else dictate or deviate you from it. Don't feel like you have to fulfill someone else's expectations of you, professionally and personally. Keep marching to the beat of your own drummer, because in the end, individuality ALWAYS wins over conformity.
16. Don't be afraid to grow as an individual. It's ok if you don't like the same clothes, music, etc. now that you did two years ago. Tastes change, and so will you.
