16 Things All People With Chronic FOMO Will Understand
Fionna Lynne

It's an epidemic that is sweeping across the nation. It takes no mercy on age, race, or gender. No one is safe from FOMO. For those of you don't know the acronym, FOMO is the Fear Of Missing Out. Yes, there is finally a name for that horrible feeling everyone experiences. If you are like me, you will suffer from these symptoms.

1. Using all your data for the month to constantly update social media.

Sorry Mom and Dad but if you're forcing me to out to dinner with no wifi, I need to check Instagram to see what's going on.

2. Leaving the library after 5 minutes to go home to your roommates.

Because what if something funny happens when I'm not there? Can't miss these precious bonding moments.

3. Staying up an extra hour after getting in bed for the night because you're still on your phone checking Snapchat.

Hey, you never know what could be going on at 2:15 in the morning on a Wednesday. Can't miss out, that's for sure.

4. Turning off your phone when you stay in to avoid all your friends' drunk texts/Snapchats.

"omg ur mussin a gr8 partayyy"........Kill me now.

5. Going out when you're sick so you don't miss the fun party going on that night.

"I feel a lot better, really!" *sniffles profusely*

6. Leaving one party to go to another you heard about, just in case that one is more fun.

Who cares if this one is fun already? There's MORE going on.

7. Going places you would NEVER normally go but you do just to tag along with everyone else.

Sure I would love to go to quilt store with you!!! Who's gonna be there?

8. Secretly hoping your friends have a bad time when they go somewhere without you.

Even though you know they won't because you're the fun one anyway.

9. Desperately texting everyone you know on a Friday night when you don't have plans yet.

Who cares if you haven't talked in three weeks? You're ready to go out!

10. Excessively stalking social media to find out where everyone went this weekend.

I see you went to your grandmothers house wearing that pink shirt you wore in that Instagram two weeks ago with your cousin Jackie who came to visit from Colorado...was it fun??

11. Asking your friend to send you updates of the party she's at and you're not.

Who won at pong? Are you playing flip cup? Did they play that Fetty Wap song I like? I NEED TO KNOW.

12. And getting pissed when she doesn't answer you right away.

I understand you're in a frat basement and not on your phone but I'm going to keep texting you until you answer.

13. Bitterly asking how the party went when all your roommates come home.

Everyone knows that you don't really want to know the answer.

14. Feeling betrayed when your friends don't invite you to everything they go to.

When in reality, it wasn't anything personal.

15. Trying to act like you're not mad when people make plans in front of you.

No really, its not like I want to go anyway. Don't even bother asking, it's fine.

16. When you stay in one weekend and immediately regret it when you see everyone walking down the street.

TAKE ME WITH YOU.

The FOMO is real, people.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
