Some call us dramatic. Others call us needy, emotionally unstable and oversensitive when it comes to emotions and personal relationships. When we meet new people, they just assume that we are psychotic, while our friends have accepted the misfiring of neurons that occurs when a romantic interest steps onto the scene. Our mental and emotional health is continually called into question as we seemingly set our emotions on fire just for fun while we seek an audience who will watch them burn. If you think the term "emotional pyromaniac" is on the dramatic side, then it must be perfect. So how can you tell if you or a loved one is an emotional pyro? Well, it takes one to know one.
1. You probably have an emotional breakdown whenever someone shows the slightest romantic interest in you...
Wait, me? Are you sure? You must have made a mistake.
2. ...and then text all of your friends so they can get a play-by-play.
Well, they have to know. They want to know. Right?
3. You spend most of your time convincing yourself that you are okay...
4. ...or convincing yourself that you're not actually into that person.
I mean, they aren't that cute. Okay, they are, but they're so bad at texting back!
5. You've mastered the art of the subtweet.
Because you really want to talk about them but you don't want to talk about them.
6. You have whole lists of petty texts you want to send but you send "Heyy" instead.
You don't want to turn them off, but you don't want to seem boring.
7. You've accepted the fact that you're dramatic and are expecting your tiara any day now.
At first, being called dramatic was an insult. Now it's a compliment.
8. You are obsessed with trying to not be mainstream...
9. ..but you aren't really sure how trendy you want to be.
10. You realized that you incorporated the characteristics of someone else into your own personality
Since when did I start making this sound? Who says that? I'm a mosaic of human ticks.
11. You are never satisfied with your present circumstances.
Envy is a vice and the little green monster of jealousy secretly pulls the strings of your desires.
12. You make everything personal.
Everything.
13. You have an insatiable desire to make dull things interesting, even if it means making a fool of yourself.
You have to keep people interested, and why not get some of the spotlight while you're at it?
14. FOMO actually keeps you awake at night.
In addition to waiting for the Snapchat or text back, your fear that people are having fun without you keeps you awake long enough to send some dumb texts.
15. You don't deserve your friends, but you'd be nothing without them.
You always need a support group as well as an audience.
16. Always wondering why you are this way, wanting to change, and then doing the same thing tomorrow.
You want to be more stable, but your habit of setting and starting fires cannot be tamed. It's who you/we are, and it's not really worth our time to try and change it.
