Start off your winter break from school and work with the right trip! Before or after the festivities, allow yourself to seek some peace and scenery by traveling...even if it's around your neighborhood. Although it is cold outside and you'd want to wrap yourself up with blankets as you sip your warm hot chocolate, release your stress and enjoy the gift of family and friends by tagging along with them on a road trip or such! Here a few ideas to help you plan your winter trip!

1. Montréal, Canada

Classy like Parisian alleyways and streets full of culture and romance, Montreal is a must for every New Yorker that wants to experience Europe...but on a budget. No matter what, endless snow, festive lights, and parades are worth the experience.

2. Dublin, Ireland

Full of historic buildings and path to other wonderful cities, Dublin is a center of old architecture, Irish culture, and European art.

3. New Orleans, LA

The City of Jazz is for everyone, especially the musicians who want to experience a genre out of their primary fave. New Orleans gives off a European nightlife vibe however, the city is full of art, art, and ART. There is no escaping your thirst for creativity and experience in New Orleans!

4. Vancouver, Canada

A must on my list, Vancouver has always reminded me of a North American version of Switzerland, specifically because it is not too far away from Alberta!

5. Las Vegas, NV

If you want to go to New Orleans but are wishing for more of a nightlife and expenditure, Las Vegas is the perfect place to experience the Vegas lifestyle and adventures.

6. San Diego, CA

A more serene, calming, atmosphere, San Diego is a city of greenery and nature. If you're looking for a warmer, toastier winter, San Diego will do justice in letting you enjoy sunsets with just a light sweater.

7. Amsterdam, The Netherlands

With cheaper tickets than usual, Amsterdam is a city of fancy architecture, buildings, museums, and small yet colorful houses. Known for its historic significance and music house, Amsterdam is the perfect city to start your Europe tour with.

8. Cold Springs, NY

On my bucket list for a while, but on yours starting today! Cold Springs is just a short drive away from Manhattan and serves as the perfect weekend getaway with your friends or family.

9. Bangkok, Thailand

Another bustling city with cheap foods and souvenirs. Bangkok is a must-visit in East Asia!

10. Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix is the perfect place for someone looking for a cheap, non-island trip to sunny-land this winter. With cheap prices, Phoenix offers both the city and resort life.

11. Geneva, Switzerland

Witness the real-life Winter Wonderland in the magical white narrow streets of Geneva. Switzerland is well recognized for their diversity, especially in languages. Wander in this wonderland as you hear natives and tourists speak French, German, Italian, and English.

12. Seoul, South Korea

For approximately $700, you can fly to the land of an amazing international entertainment industry! (Forgot to mention the flavorful food that no one's taste buds can deny!)

13. Thompsonville, Michigan

Start off your winter break experiencing the Crystal Mountain, which features 58 trails with 29 lit for night skiing.

14. Jackson Hole, Wyoming

If you're an avid skier, Jackson Hole is the perfect place with its impossibly steep slopes.

15. Ottawa, Canada

The first time I ever visited Ottawa, I was so surprised to see such a clean city. Ottawa reminds me of Washington, D.C. in the USA because of its wide streets, wealthy living, and nightlife! For about $360 by flight, you can experience the parliamentary province of Canada! Oh also, Ottawa is home to the world's longest skating rink!

16. Beaver Creek, CO

Beaver Creek, located in Colorado offers a bustling village, restaurants, and mountains perfect for skiing and whatnot!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
