16 Best Moments at the Oscars

16 Best Moments at the Oscars

First and foremost, congratulations to all the amazing individuals who were honored by the Academy! Amazing work this year... We can all go home now!

16. Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu accepting his Oscar for Best Director and Best Film. A touching salute to his Mexican compatriots and his hilarious shout-out to Michael Keaton's balls.

"I'm wearing the original Michael Keaton tighty wighties...they smell like balls"

15.  Eddie Redmayne. Cutest man on earth.

14. Neil Patrick Harris Jokes and his briefcase of Oscar predictions. On point, as usual.

"Gone Girl originally titled "Bitches Be Trippin' Yo"

13. Steve Carell's presence at the Oscars. Not only did he have the most hilariously adorable interaction with my boy Neil, he also was sporting #HeForShe cufflinks in support of Gender Equality and Emma Watson!

12. The Grand Budapest Hotel murdering the Oscar game. I love Wes Anderson and I love seeing his work getting the recognition it deserves!

11.  Everything Is Awesome performance by Tegan and Sara / The Lonely Island. I couldn't help but smile and feel happy while watching this performance... and it wasn't only because Andy Samberg looked sexy AF...it was also because Batman played guitar.

10. Indina Menzel calling John Travolta "Glong Gazingo." #neverforget.

9. Reese Witherspoon giving her mama a shout-out during her nomination. Yeah moms!

8. Pawel Pawlikowski. It's hard to beat foreign directors ignoring the play-off music with thank-yous and ramblings about his drunk polish friends. Better yet, after the music stopped he kept on talking. Finally, someone goes up against the play-off music and wins!

7. Neil Patrick Harris in his underwear on the stag. I mean...another piece of evidence towards all the good ones being either married or gay-- or in Neil's case married AND gay.

6. Anna Kendrick, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jack Black's tribute to the art of film. I'm a sucker for a good reference and this performance had a ton. It was the perfect combination of hilarious and cheesy.

5. Graham Moore telling everyone to "Stay weird." What a serious cutie. It is amazing to see how far people can come in their lives. Props to you, Graham! You are a beacon of hope for anyone who feels like they don't fit in.

4. Julie Andrews coming out on stage after Lady Gaga's magical tribute performance. It was a pretty majestic moment. Julie Andrews is wonderful and I completely forgot about about the pipes on Lady Gaga. #respect

3. Meryl Streep's reaction to Patricia Arquette's plug for wage equality. One badass woman supporting another badass woman doing a badass thing. Pretty legendary

2. John Legend and Common's moving performance of Glory from Selma. There wasn't a dry eye in the audience. It was one of the most moving performances I've ever watched and I'm so glad they won the Oscar. "The struggle for justice is right now."

1. Patricia Arquette's epic plea for wage equality. Wish she could've dropped the mic at the end of that one. Incredible. "To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer of this nation-- we have fought for everybody else's equal rights. It's OUR time to have wage equality once and for all, and equal rights for women in the United States of America."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
