15 Things to Do in Your 20s

Your 20s; a beautiful time for discovery, growth, and building. A time to discover who you really are and build the type of life you want to live.

So here is a list of 15 things everyone should do in their 20s:

15. Learn something new

Whether it’s a finally learning French, sewing, cooking, or how to play the guitar. It’s never to late to acquire a new skill.

14. Travel

Take the initiative, save up some money, and catch a flight. It’s so important to experience different cultures other than your own. You will be amazed at all you learn about your way of thinking when it’s in contrast to a completely different society. Try new foods, observe different practices, breathe in new air.

13. Just do it

Shake off the fear, and do the thing you keep saying you’re going to do. Write the book. Record the song. Audition for the part. Apply for the job. You are not too young; you are not too inexperienced. You have what it takes. Now just do it.

12. Get healthy

It’s crucial to start making healthy choices physically, mentally, and emotionally. Find the vegetables you think taste delicious. Start doing exercises you find enjoyable. Talk about your emotions. Read and do puzzles. Know it is okay to eat that slice of pizza. Enjoy your life, but make it a healthy, long one.

11. Enjoy time with friends

This is the last bit of time you have to sit on your girlfriends’ couch talking about boys and eating chocolate, or playing video games with your buddies until 5 am. Before you know it, you will have children to take care of, a job to be up early for, and a spouse to cater to. So live up this time with your friends!

10. Find your passions

Whether it’s building your career, or starting a family, creating a movement, or ending an injustice. Find out what gets your heart stirring and go for it.

9. Road trip

Pack up minimal belongings, grab your closest friends, create a really cool playlist, and hit the road. You can drive with a destination in mind, or without one. Remember it is more about the journey.

8. Learn how to budget

This one is definitely not as fun as the others, but trust me, it will help. Get some Dave Ramsey videos, ask your parents, or download an app. Which ever way you do it, learn how to start making smart financial habits.

7. Spend time with your parents

It’s easy in your 20s to be so focused on building your own life that you forget the people who gave you life. Take time out of your busy schedule to eat a meal with them, or give them a call. They won’t be around forever, so spend all the time you can with them.

6. Change your style

Who says you have to dress the way you always have? If you’ve always wanted to dress more edgy, go for it. Or if you always admired bright colored styles, try it out! Just make sure you’re doing it for you, and not for someone else.

5. Make mistakes

The only way we can grow is from making big fat ugly mistakes, and learning from them. Don’t pass up an opportunity because you are afraid of failing. You will make mistakes, but always keep going.

4.Forget people pleasing

It’s a popular saying to let your yes’s be yes and your no’s be no. Stop making decisions based on what will please those around you, and do what makes you pleased with yourself.

3. Allow repressed hurts to heal

We all have scars and things from our past that have hurt us deeply that we have buried in the ground. Don’t carry that weight into your 30s, allow it to heal now.

2. Go deeper with God

More than all these other things, the thing that really matters is where you stand with the Lord. Use this time to run after Him harder than ever, love Him with everything, and let Him have your life.

1. Fall in love (with yourself)

Forget about your mistakes and shortcoming and chose to look in the mirror and love who you are. There is nothing more powerful than a young person who recognizes their worth and isn’t ashamed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
