4. Starbucks Snob
Starbucks originated in Seattle, WA. Meaning you can drive down any street and find at least like three within a 2-mile radius. We get very picky when it comes to the taste5. Timbers vs. Sounders
The PNW has a great rivalry in the MLS. Everyone becomes engrossed and very passionate when watching the Cascadia Cup.
6. The Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon Issue
Someone: Where are you from?
Me: Washington State!
Someone: Seattle area?
Me: No, Vancouver.
Someone: Canada?
Me: No Vancouver is a city right by Portland
Someone: So Oregon?
Me: *gives up*
7. Seahawk Gear Everywhere
The PNW only has one NFL football team. Because of this, the “12th Man” stretches all the way down to Oregon. So if you see Seahawks gear, there’s a very large chance the person is from Washington or Oregon.
8. The Vitamin D Pills
There is a lot of rain in the PNW. So much that certain places rain 9 months out of the year. With so much cloud coverage, this leads to becoming vitamin D deficiency. It’s okay though because you can grab a bulk size of Vitamin D pills from another PNW origin, Costco.9. Nike vs. Adidas Debate
As many people know, Phil Knight created the brand Nike in Oregon. In Beaverton, Oregon there is the Nike Employee Store where people, professional athletes, and celebrities go to get 50% off Nike merchandise. Well not too far away in Portland, Oregon is the Adidas Employee Store where you also get 50% off Adidas merchandise. There’s definitely a preference for each PNW native.
11. The Instagram
You can tell someone is from the PNW just by the pictures on their Instagram. This can range from pictures of any hike in the Gorge, an artsy rainy day picture at Starbucks, or a picture of their gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, nonfat, low sugar dinner.12. Calling the Beaches "The Coast"
The PNW is a large part of the west coast. But in contrast with the sunny California beaches, “the coast” mostly consists of sweatshirts and blankets because of the wind, and staying at least 100 feet away from the -8-degree water.
13. Voodoo Doughnuts
The infamous doughnut shop in Portland, Oregon that locals go when they’re bored. When it’s a Friday night and nobody knows what to do, there is always the “we could go to voodoo” suggestion.
14. The Space Needle
A large tourist attraction based in Seattle, WA. If you ask any Seattle local if they’ve been to the Space Needle they will reply with “once when I was a kid” or “no.”
