Finals week is in full swing and that means those who suffer from anxiety are likely finding themselves drowning in stress and anxious tendencies. Thanks to the complexities of anxiety and the stigmas attached to it, there is very little out there with ways to help ease it. And while every case of anxiety is different, here's just a few ways to ease it during finals week.
1. Get enough sleep.
All-nighters are tempting with everything going on, but without enough sleep you're unable to properly take care of yourself or your mental health.
2. Find a good place to work.
A relaxing place to work is necessary to your success. Whether its the library, a coffee shop or your desk in your bedroom, make sure its perfect for you.
3. Make sure to eat enough.
Like sleep, eating is necessary to ensuring that you're taking care of yourself.
4. Take breaks during studying.
Not taking breaks can lead to stress, which is not a good way to solve anxiety.
5. Make a study playlist with relaxing music.
Using music to relax is a great way to stay calm, and avoid stress build up.
6. Don't forget to take care of yourself.
Simple things like showering, brushing your hair and teeth can get difficult when you're having a bad bout of anxiety but it helps to make you feel better and more productive.
7. Take walks.
Get away from the study environment, take a breath and find your cool.
8. Exercise to relieve stress
Working out helps get endorphin's running and can assist in relieving pressure even if its just temporary.
9. Lean on a support system.
No one can do this alone, whether its friends or family, find someone to help.
10. Don't be afraid to stop and just turn on some netflix.
Don't force yourself into more stress by making yourself work through all of your assignments, its good to take breaks.
11. But don't wait until last minute to finish things.
Waiting until last minute makes it more stressful.
12. Don't equate your self worth to your grades.
You are more than that bad grade, I promise.
13. Color.
Another great way to relieve stress.
14. Still have fun.
A night out, or a movie, don't let finals hold you back from going.
15. Know that even if you don't succeed, it'll be okay.
It is just college, you can take the class again, you will be able to do this.
