15 Thoughts Every Girl Has On Bid Day

Bid day is the day. It’s a time of a whirlwind of emotions. It’s the day you can finally say you found your home. There’s no better feeling than running into the arms of your newly found sisters and to have girls who are obsessed with them just as much as you are right by your side. It’s the beginning of something that’s not just four years — it’s for life. Here are just a few thoughts that go through your mind as you wait to see what fate has in store for you.

1. I think I’m going to vomit.

The anxiety is so real right now.

2. So this is what it’s like to hold your life in your hands.

Who knew a tiny white envelope could mean so much?

3. OK, maybe I’m being slightly dramatic.

After all, it is just a piece of paper.

4. Nope. Definitely not.

Scratch that. It is the piece of paper.

5. I really hope that one girl I talked to on that one day remembers me and loves me as much as I loved her.

You're destined to be sisters.

6. What pose am I going to do for my Insta?

Yes, it's important.

7. More importantly, what caption?

This only comes around once a year, people.

8. Is it acceptable to throw glitter?

Who am I kidding? Glitter is life.

9. When you finally open your bid and it’s everything you ever wanted and more.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!! (There’s no better explanation.)

10. This is better than Christmas morning.

Who needs Santa? (Totally kidding — Santa is my right hand.)

11. Why isn’t Bid Day a national holiday?

The world would be a better place.

12. Big?

I know you’re here somewhere.

13. This must be what it feels like to win the lottery.

Of course, it’d be nice to have the winning ticket, too.

14. So. Many. Hugs.

There’s so much love that the love has love, and I love it.

15. 'Cause we are sisters, we stand together.

I guess this is what it’s like to finally find your home.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
