The finish line is fast approaching. We're staring at it right in the face, yet we have some obstacles to get through before we can reach it. Yes, I'm talking about winter break and finals. The best thing in the world, and the worst. Once we survive the hell that is finals, we finally have four weeks to do absolutely nothing besides stuff our faces with santa-shaped cookies. Although this list may not be very exciting, here's 15 things to do this winter break.

1. Bake Christmas cookies.

baking and decorating is fun, and eating them after is even better.

2. Do all of your shopping online.

you had a tough semester, you deserve to treat yo self and online shop until your hands go numb. Don't risk going to the mall and dying in a stampede of soccer moms who are trying to get gifts for their 24 children.

3. Watch every Christmas movie known to man

The Santa Claus, The Grinch, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and even the horrible ones from Lifetime and Freeform. Watch them all.

4. Invest in fuzzy socks and a heated blanket.

This should be the first thing you do when you get home from school. But them, and then spend the rest of break wrapped up like a warm little burrito.

5. Hang out with your family.

Do something fun with them. This is your time to relax and spend time with your family when you're not stressed out about the 100 things going on in your life. Go see a movie, go iceskating, or just do #1 on this list and invite them to do it with you.

6. Get a body pillow.

This marks the beginning of cuffing season, and who needs another human to cuddle with when you have a body pillow to fall in love with?

7. Eat.

Everything and anything.

8. Play with every dog you can.

Make sure to wish every dog that crosses your path a Merry Christmas and give them a good belly rub.

9. Make a homemade ornament.

Get crafty and artsy.

10. Get a bangin' NYE outfit.

New Year's Eve is the best excuse to get a brand spankin' new outfit that can be as fancy as you want. It's the only time of the year you get to wear head-to-toe sparkles.

11. Take lots of naps

You deserve it.

12. Catch up on your favorite show.

Odds are, you got way behind on your favorite Netflix show during finals, and this is the time to catch up, or even finish it.

13. Do some charity work.

Christmas is a time when every organization needs help. Can drives, Angel trees, clothing donations, and any other type of volunteer work needed. This is when you actually have time to do it.

14. Decorate your room like it's the north pole.

Go all out. Lights, a tree, tinsel. Make your bedroom so Christmas that even Santa will be jealous.

15. Read a book.

None of us have time to read for enjoyment anymore, but now is the time. Even if you don't like to read for enjoyment, do it anyway because you really should.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
