When I hear songs on the radio about relationships between parents and children, I often get choked up thinking of my own parents who have given me the world. I could never thank God enough for blessing me with two incredible humans as my parents.
Although there are many more, here are just a few things of what I want to thank my parents for.
1. Your morals.
From the day I was born you have taught me right from wrong and have set a great example of living a moral life.
2. Your motivational texts.
When I think I can't finish an essay for school, you better believe one of your motivational texts are only minutes away.
3. Picking me up when I'm down.
When life throws crazy curveballs, you're always the people who help me pick up the pieces and keep going.
4. Encouraging my dreams.
You always listen to my ambitions and dreams and help me make them come true.
5. Your good looks.
This is self-explanatory right
6. Your sense of humor.
Or lack thereof....just kidding.
7. Your faith.
You have such a positive outlook on life that has been shaped by your faith in God. You wake up everyday with a smile on your face thankful for another day God has given you.
8. Paying for my education.
From Pre-K to senior year of college you have paid for an education that has prepared me for my future.
9. Believing in me when I couldn't believe in myself.
All those countless nights when I come crying to you, feeling like I wasn't good enough, you were always there to comfort and reassure me that I was doing the best I could.
10. Having fun.
Thanks for our shopping sprees and jam sessions in the car when we sing to the top of our lungs.
11. Your hugs.
Whether it's been a few hours, days, or months, your hugs are the best thing to come home to.
12. Looking out for me.
Having a shovel ready for when my date arrives and packing me snacks because you'll know I'll get hungry when I'm at work are just two ways that show me you're looking out for me.
13. Being patient when I'm stressed out.
Thanks for understanding when I can't put my clothes away in my drawers or when I forget to put my dishes in the dishwasher.
14. Being my cheerleader.
Whether it's sports games, drama plays or school events, you have always been right there cheering me on.
15. Loving me.
Thank you for showing me unconditional love my entire life.
Like I said, I could go on and on about all the things you do for me, believe me they do not go unnoticed. Thanks for being a great example for me that I will carry on when I become a parent one day.
