15 Things That Make Me A Bad Roommate

I'm just a little messy sometimes...

I’m not the worst roommate (I don’t think I am anyways) but I know I’ve got some flaws so here is a list of 15 things I know I do that make me a bad roommate

1. My room is almost always dirty

Just clothes scattered mostly, but boy do I hate folding clothes

2. I leave the dishes in the sink when I'm too lazy to do them

Come on, everyone does this.

3. I listen to my TV way too loud

Partially my fan's fault and partially the fact that I just can’t hear very well.

4. The vent fan in my bathroom is always on (and it's loud)

I have no idea why I leave it on, really. I just like the noise at night

5. I get hungry at 2 a.m. and let the microwave beep when my food is done

At 2 a.m. I’m not thinking about making sure the microwave doesn’t beep; I'm just trying to get some food!

6. I forget stuff all over the place

I lose things faster than anyone I’ve ever met, and most the time the thing I’m missing is sitting within 5 feet of me

7. I have at least one pair of shoes near the door at all times

You never know when you might have to run out the door in an instant. No seriously, I just take them off when I walk in and then never think to move them to my room

8. I leave stuff in the washer/dryer and forget about it

After the initial heart-stopping screech that it's done I forget pretty quickly to go move my stuff out of the way

9. I have a fan in my room to sleep and when it's on I can't hear a word my roommate says to me

This is why we always hang out in her room or in the living room. No fans… no problems

10. I hate taking the garbage out alone, so I almost always wait until my roomie suggest we take it together

The dumpster is so far away and I feel dumb going alone.

11. I leave the AC turned way down sometimes and we wake up to an icebox apartment

I love to sleep with it really cold, but sometimes even I get cold and then I know my roommate is frozen.

12. I slam the door (accidentally) when I come in late at night

I think the door to our apartment is lighter than other doors because I feel like the lightest pull will slam it shut.

13. I drop stuff constantly... my phone, books, food. You name it I drop it.

My phone hits the ground like 80 times a day.

14. I use blankets and then leave them spread all over the place

I mean who has time to refold a giant blanket?

15. I eat my roommates' food thinking it's mine

I do this a lot. We eat a lot of similar things so getting them mixed up really is an innocent mistake.

I swear I’m not a terrible roommate. She could probably add like 100 more things to this list but those are the 15 things I am aware of that make me a bad roommate.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
