Younger siblings. We love them, we can't stand them, we would do anything for them, but we were also kind of forced to. The science behind siblings is a very fragile and complex one. In one moment they can be hanging out and laughing like best friends, and then in the following moment one has the other pinned down to the floor in a half nelson! In a moment, one sibling could be complaining and bad-mouthing the other sibling, but as soon as someone joins in with the bad-mouthing, the sibling's claws will come out in defense of their own flesh and blood!
Whether we are conspiring against one another, or with one another, no one can quite explain the special bond between an older sibling and their younger ones. Of course, there are wonderful aspects that only an older sibling will come to know in this described relationship, but only the oldest children will truly understand these 15 struggles that come along with this special bond brought on by our lovely parents as well!
1. You're old news!
While everyone is making all over the new baby, you might as well be miles away!
2. "You're in charge!"
No one respects our authority!
3. The rules become more loose with each sibling.
When we were their age, we would have never been allowed to do that!
4. Responsibility expectations decline down the ladder as well.
We were raised to help out around the house, and our younger siblings grew up not being expected to.
5. Being the first to do everything.
FASFA? What is FAFSA? Younger siblings never have to go through high school, or look at colleges completely in the dark!
6. Having to be the role model, but we just want to be bad too!
We can only be the bigger person for so long! As soon as they change the TV channel or breathe on us, they must die!
7. Being reprimanded for parenting.
I'm sorry, I didn't know that it was suddenly OK for them to play with their toys when you just said that they were to be in the corner!
8. Never receiving gratitude for our efforts.
Because of us, you never walked out of the house looking like a total tool!
9. Picking up the slack.
10. When we had friends over, our siblings always made their presence known.
11. We were our parents' fashion guinea pigs.
Because of us, you never had to experience this.
12. When our younger siblings get big enough to overpower us.
We very much miss the days when you still couldn't talk.
13. When our siblings start growing into real human beings.
Did we just have an adult conversation?!
14. "Your brother/sister is so hot!"
No! Just no!
