2016 has been a rough year. Elections happened, Dakota Access Pipeline and Prince AND David Bowie died. It has been a long, long year. But music is the best way to feel better about 2016. There are many great releases this year including Beyoncé's "Lemonade,: The Weeknd's "Starboy," and Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman." 2016 may be a year of hardship, but it is also the year where we get amazing music.

Here are some 2016 songs that will help you get you through this rough year.

Childish Gambino "Me And Your Mama"

What a great timing! Actor, comedian, star of "Atlanta," and all-around talented man Donald Glover came back as Child Gambino with a new song "Me And Your Mama." It goes from a sweet yet haunting electronic mid tempo to "Bohemian Rhapsody" craze sound then back to its original sound. "Me And Your Mama" will take your ears on a trip like you've never been before. Not only that heannounced his new album "Awaken, My Love" will be released on December 2nd! Something to distract yourself with from a mess of 2016.

Solange "Don't Touch My Hair"

If you are searching for a low-key version of Beyoncé's "Lemonade," Solange's whole album "A Seat At the Table" is the one for you! Beyoncé's little sister has gone above and beyond with her album. It's sound takes back to old school funk and elements from New Orleans. Songs like "Cranes In The Sky" and "Don't Touch My Hair" (above) will provide you love, especially if you are a Black Woman, and self-care sound.

Lady Gaga "A-YO"

The "Pokerface" singer is back! With a glam rock album "Joanne," Lady Gaga is giving feels through moving story-telling music and songs you want to kick back and dance to. Release your inner Lady Gaga with "A-YO" if you want to feel like a country rocker for a moment because you deserve it.

TWICE "TT"

Want to feel cute? Want to relive your Halloween adventures? Korean girl group "TWICE" got your back. This odd pop song will get you into the mood of feeling confident and being adorable.

Common "Black America Again (ft. Stevie Wonder)"

Another empowering song on racism and today's issues. Rapper Common graced back to music with his new album "Black America Again" including the song of the same name. With powerhouse artists featured in the album like Stevie Wonder, Common's "Black America Again" will make you feel empowered for a new hope.

A Tribe Called Quest "We The People.."

After a tragedy within the group and 18 years, "A Tribe Called Quest" has returned with new music and give you life that you need.

Jay Park "Me Like Yuh"

Yes, the title isn't that great. However, Jay Park's "Me Like Yuh" makes a great song to get your groove on. Something to you in the mood to dance with someone or by yourself.

Backstreet Boys "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)"

Admit it: you can't help but shout "EVERYBODY. YEAH~!" This throwback song by Backstreet Boys will lift your spirits.

Hamilton Cast "My Shot"

Anything with Hamilton will make every situation better.

Agust D "Agust D"

Release all your stress about the world with Agust D's "Agust D." I have talked about this song before in my previous article. "Agust D" has a strong sense of confidence and attitude that makes sure you are not one to mess with (in a good way). You can be on top of the world while listening to this track!

Stranger Things Theme Song

Because why not. Also it is no.11 song on this list. Yes, I went there.

Sheila E "The Glamorous Life"

Another throwback track! This 80s song is about a girl who wants a luxurious lifestyle including love. Whether you want love or anything in your life, you can always lead your own glamorous life with Sheila E.

Mamamoo "Décalcomanie"

When you want to feel good, you can always turn to an artist like Mamamoo. Great harmonizing vocals and mesmerizing visuals, Mamamoo will make you feel good.

Far East Movement "Fighter (ft. Yoon Mi Rae & Autolaser)"

If you're like me, it is hard to find songs that embraces your identity, especially Asian American identity. When Far East Movement released their album "Identity" featuring many K-Pop artists including legendary artist Yoon Mi Rae and Chanyeol from EXO and other artists like Tinashe, it opens a new door of embracing my Asian identity. "Fighter" is a great example of finding yourself and standing up when life gets hard. "Far East Movement" out did themselves with their new music, letting listeners like me feel great about myself.

Bruno Mars "24K Magic"

Just a reminder that you are full of 24K Magic.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
