In light of Bob Dylan's recent win of the Nobel Prize for Literature, there's no better time to start listening to some classic folk and acoustic. Growing up in North and South Carolina, I was raised on my grandpa's old Elvis and Johnny Cash tapes rather than the Top 40 Hits, a fact I despised as a child but am wildly grateful for now. And while I'm not a fan of modern country music, folk and acoustic will always have a special place in my heart (I even have a Spotify playlist titled "Folk Yeah!"). So, whether you're a fan of the classic folk artists that we know and love, a proponent of modern indie-folk bands, or a lover of the haunting Southern-Gothic style of folk music, there's no reason not to love the powerful lyrics and gorgeous melodies of the songs on this list.
