The life of an education major is an interesting one between the late nights at the library creating lesson plans, interacting with children all day, and going gaga over the dollar aisle at Target. As education majors, we can all agree that we have these 15 qualities in common (not including the fact that we believe we are in the most rewarding major):
1. You accept gifts in many forms, including new boxes of pencils and agenda books.
2. You've most likely had a job as a nanny at some point in your life.
3. You own an embarrassing amount of "adult clothes" for a college student.
4. But if you're a girl, you can be found in lecture wearing oversized sweatpants, sweatshirts, and no makeup.
Obviously due to the fact that there are barely any guys in your classes, not because you lost seven hours of sleep prepping for the lesson plan you're implementing tomorrow.
5. These are not only your best friend, but you also experience overwhelming joy when you grade papers with these.
(Seriously, does anyone know why these give us so much pleasure?)
6. You can find the pencil and apple in your most recently used emojis.
Because if you don't post a snap story of the school you're tutoring at that day, did you really go?
7. The phrase "wow, teaching is such a rewarding job" followed by some examples of a teacher's salary is nothing new to you.
8. You wonder if the kids noticed that you actually didn't know what you were talking about during the math lesson last week.
9. You take compliments from brutally honest students to heart more than compliments from adults.
10. Toothless smiles, handwritten letters, and broken crayons bring you happiness.
11. "Word wall," "KWL Chart," "Growth mindset," and "Common Core Standards" might actually be the top four phrases used in your classes all day, every day.
12. You have a Pinterest board solely dedicated to "Education."
Which includes lesson plans, layouts for your future classroom, crafts, and standards.
13. You collect children's books for your future classroom.
14. You wonder if a student will ever bring you an apple, because like?
And why apples are even associated with teaching?
