15 Signs That You're Maybe Too Much of a Kid at Heart

C'mon, let's not deny it

15 Signs That You're Maybe Too Much of a Kid at Heart

Every adult has a little kid inside of them that shines through every now and then. It may be only when their favorite cartoon comes on, or maybe when they are surrounded by children and are forced to pretend that they are in a land of sword fights, lava covered floors and superheroes. However, there are a few special people whose “inner child” just seems to be more apparent throughout the average day. They are the bubble-blowing, toy-loving and puddle-splashing goofballs of the adult world, and they are a person that everyone should have in their lives. If you are this person in your friend group, you can undoubtedly relate to these signs.

1. You have invested much of your savings into several coloring books and a 64 Crayola Crayon box that you treasure so much (it has a built in sharpener, you’re practically the coolest adult on the block).

2. You get way too excited about wearing your favorite pair of pajamas (especially that onesie you shamelessly purchased).

3. Your initial reaction to waking up to snow on the ground is excitement, and you immediately make plans to make snow angels and go sledding.

4. Getting candy from your professors is, and always will be, a day-maker. Because, let’s face it, getting candy for crushing an exam is one of the most respected rewards you can get.

5. If you were presented with a pair of Heely’s, you would quickly abandon all your responsibilities and ride on them all day long.

6. Daily naps are crucial. Without them, you get cranky.

7. Whether or not you should sing along to your favorite Disney movie is never a question.

8. You often wear your fun-patterned and character-themed socks out in public (and proudly, I might add).

9. You get a rush out of running through the sprinklers in your front yard during the summer.

10. You like to kick back and relax with a glass of apple juice and your favorite swirly straw (or even just in your favorite sippy cup, whatever works best).

11. You have fallen into the habit of creating “imaginary” friends when your relatives inevitably ask you how your social life is going.

12. You are infamous for spending the most time in the moon bounce at all of your little cousin’s birthday parties.

13. Sometimes you just feel like sprawling out on the floor and having a good cry.

14. When it snows, you spend a little too much time trying to catch the snowflakes in your mouth, and excitedly shout “I got one!” after five minutes of standing outside with your tongue in the air like an idiot.

15. It is always a fun time blowing bubbles into your chocolate milk (up until it overflows, of course).

So maybe you’re now realizing that you’re actually the friend who’s not exactly feeling the whole “adult” lifestyle. You’re the bubble wrap-snapping, cartoon-loving, onesie- wearing weirdo. That’s alright, I promise you that you’re still as cool as you think you are.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
