Throughout life we are blessed with many friendships, and while no two are alike we may be able to place them in some general groups with some pretty suiting labels. You probably have, have had, or are going to experience at least one friendship like each one of these in your life.
1. The "Best Friend"
Once you've achieved this level its a lifelong commitment, these are the girls who are going to be your bridesmaids, or the guys who would be in your bridal party if that was acceptable. You can and have told each other everything and you've never once worried about that information going anywhere. These are the people you are so comfortable with it's just like an extension of yourself. You probably have conversations in inside jokes, that anyone around would not only not understand, but also think that your crazy.
2. The "Family Friend"
While you may not have found these friends on your own, and you were basically designated with them from birth, they could end up being some of the best friends you'll have. They were the kids you used to sit around with at your parents social gatherings, and one day the adults you'll be inviting over for a Sunday Dinner. There is nothing more beautiful than generations of friendship.
3. The "Frenemy"
Your conversations with each other may largely consist of digs and jabs. Making fun of each other may be some of the most fun you have together. You may even go to far and get into serious fights, but at the end of the day this bizarre relationship is one you would not want to go without. At the end of the day you don't need any classic mushy friendship characteristics to prove that you have their back and they have yours.
4. The "Friend of a friend"
Sharing a close friend shows that you and this person may not only have good taste in people, but you may also get along very well. Sometimes we hear so much about this person from our mutual friend that this person seems to good to be true, but then you meet them and you completely see it too. Always introduce the best people in your life to each other, it leads to a lot of good times with a lot of good people.
5. The "Childhood Friend"
You guys have been through it all together, you don't only know who they are now, you knew them when they were becoming that person, and that's priceless. You probably met this person in the missing tooth, lunch-box, "hi what's ur name phase" and you never spent a recess without them again. Play dates with them were always something to look forward to after school. Regardless of how close you are now you'll always have someone to reminisce about the glory days with. You may have straight up asked this person, "Do you want to be friends?" and you still don't regret it.
6. The "Best Friend that wasn't Forever" Friend
Maybe you drifted apart, maybe you got in a fight, maybe life just brought you different ways but this person always holds a special place in your heart. You probably have countless memories with this person, and thinking back is kind of bittersweet. But who knows maybe one day you'll meet again, and maybe some people aren't meant to stay in our lives.
7. The "Man and Woman's best friend" Friend
This one doesn't only apply to guys and there dogs, although it definitely does stand for them as well. Regardless of not being able to talk, and lacking opposable thumbs, a pet really can be a best friend. They're generally cuddly and furry, and are always have your back.
8. The "Friend of The Opposite Gender" Friend
If you're a guy sometimes you need a girl friend to just talk about things guys don't normally talk about or you might treat her just like one of the guys. You may think of her like a sister, a mom figure keeping you in line, a life coach, but she's always there for you with that feminine sensitivity that the guys don't seem to have. If your a girl you may see him as a brother, an advisor, a support system, he's just someone that is always there to have your back. Nobody ever said there can't be girl-boy dynamic duos.
9. The "Friend"
Speaking of opposite gender friendships, there is also a different kind, this one would be considered friendship, but generally theres a little something more to it, or even a lot more. According to Hollywood these types of friendships cannot and won't workout. But who can really be sure.
10. The "Old Friend you reconnected with" Friend
You drifted apart, but life or one of you guys made the move to come back together and it was definitely a good call. You caught up on everything you missed and realized you guys never left the same page. It's almost surprising how much doesn't change sometimes.
11. The "We're best friends when we see each other" Friend
You and this person may not go out of your way to see each other but when you do, you overwhelmingly enjoy this person's presence. Your spontaneous bonding makes every social gathering a little better. It's expected that when life brings you to this person you two are going to take advantage of it. See you next time best friend.
12. The "Laugh Til You Cry" Friend
If you ever need to burn a few extra calories call up this friend to hangout, because you can be sure you'll be laughing to the point of tears the entire time. Whether it's endless inside jokes, the fact that you have the same sense of humor, the same knowledge of movie and television quotes, or just the way this person says what they say, you always have a good time with this person.
13. The "Personality Twin" Friend
When you are talking to this person you feel like you are having a conversation with yourself. You think the same things, say the same things, have the same taste in everything, it would be insane not to be friends with this person. Never feel like you stand alone with an opinion, until you check with this friend. If you ever want to watch one of your favorite movies or enjoy some of your favorite music this person might be your go-to.
14. The "Party Animal" Friend
If you ever need to blow off some steam and have a good time, this is the person to do so with. They always have something planned and it's always something fun. You might not understand how someone could always be having so much fun and still keeping there life in place, but you definitely respect them for it.
15. The "Teammate" Friend
If you've ever been a part of a team you understand the bond that comes with being apart of something. The same goes for sororities and fraternities. Through endless bonding, endless pasta parties, endless events, and activities, these people are sure to become a big part of your life.
