Our siblings sometimes drive us crazy, but we still wish nothing but the best for them. We hope that they'll shine and chose a man or woman with the same goals and aspirations as their own. Below is a list of 15 requirements my sibling's future boyfriend/girlfriend will need in order to pass the sibling test.
1. Sets goals in life
Do you really want your brother or sister to end up with some dude living on the side of the road cause he has no plans for his future? No? Make sure the man or woman they're seeking a relationship with has plans, no matter how big or small.
2. Family-oriented
You and your sibling are the best of friends. Why wouldn't you want them to date someone who also cares about their family?
3. Cares about his future
I cannot stress this enough, make sure he or she cares about whom they are going to become. Make sure they have a plan set out, and that they are constantly working on bettering themselves and the people around them.
4. Kind to strangers
Sure he's nice to you, but what about everyone else? Do you really want your sibling with a man or woman that seems to only be nice to their significant other, but is rude to everyone else?
5. Has a good sense of humor
My sibling is hilarious. The jokes she makes up are as funny as they are ridiculous. She needs a man that can take a joke and spit another one right back.
6. Is a Christian
This may not be a requirement for others, but for my sibling, I want her to be with a man that shares the same values and religious beliefs that she does.
7. Does not smoke or do drugs
First off they're not healthy; secondly half of them are illegal anyway.
8. Put others above himself/herself
The way he treats his family and friends is the way he'll eventually treat your sister or brother. Do you want them to be with someone who constantly puts their needs above those around them?
9. Always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need
This is called just being a decent human being.
10. Nice to retail workers/waiters
The way he treats them tells a lot about a man's character.
11. Respectful to his superiors
Does he talk back or get an attitude whenever someone points out something he's done wrong?
12. Does not belittle those around him
Sure, be proud of your accomplishments, but don't brag just to put others down.
13. Is hard-working
You don't want your brother or sister to come home every day to a lazy slob who makes them do all the work.
14. Loves children
If your brother or sister eventually plans on starting a family, why wouldn't they want to be with someone with those same goals?
15. Understands that by dating my sibling that that means he/she is now a part of the entire family
