RuPaul's Drag Race is the best reality TV show out there right now. Here's a list of reasons why:
1. It's an intense competition
As artists and performers who have spent years improving their craft, some take criticism a little too harshly. Winning this competition would also be life changing for anyone since the prize is $100,000.
2. And it's reality TV, so of course there's drama...
3. ...and shade
4. ...and feuds
5. ... and crying
Lots. Of. Crying. (They all really wanna win.)
6. They must showcase their acting skills
Competitors have to follow the script of RuPaul's adapted versions of popular shows and movies such as Empire, shown above.
7. They show off their comedic skills
Having a great sense of humor is a common expectation from drag queens in general.
8. They have to dance
Even if they have two left feet like Kim Chi (pictured), they are expected at some point in the competition to be able to dance in heels..
9. Sometimes they have to sing (or rap)
One season featured a former contestant from American Idol (Danny Noriega a.k.a. Adore Delano) AND a former contestant from Australian Idol (Shane Jenek performed the entire season in drag as Courtney Act). Obviously, they had to prove themselves.
10. They must design their own looks
It is absolutely stunning how creative these queens are.
11. Then they have to do their own makeup
I mean look at this. It truly is an art form.

11. Then the bottom two contestants of each week have to "Lip-Sync For Your Life"
If you are one of the bottom two that means you two had the worst week and you both must "lip sync for your life." This is where you get your chance to show the judges that you really want to stay in the competition by putting on the best performance you possibly can. The winner stays and the loser gets eliminated.
12. And of course there are always insane twists
Like a wig under a wig (revolutionary).
...lots of them
Double eliminations, no elimination for the week, an eliminated queen gets brought back, and even a surprise disqualification from the competition altogether include some of the major twists in this show.
13. For all of these reasons it can be argued that RuPaul's Drag Race is a combination of all of the following shows:
America's Next Top Model (Modeling), Project Runway (Designing outfits), American Idol (Singing), Last Comic Standing (Comedy), Face Off (Makeup skills), Keeping Up With the Kardashians or any of the Housewives shows (Drama)
It's really the trifecta of reality TV.
14. They make a joke of themselves
This show teaches you not to take yourself too seriously because it's a lot more fun to live your life without caring what other people think (it's empowering as well).
