So you fell for the player, don’t worry you aren’t the only one. The term “player” has been around for years and coins the guy or girl that says, “I want a relationship,” but really, they have no desire to be your significant other. While players may be great friends to people, they’re never really the best significant others and unfortunately, some people have to find that out the hard way. Both genders are guilty of being players, they want to run around and do what they want, but if only they could leave us non players’ feelings out of it…
While everyone has the capability to change, it is nice to think a player will actually change to a boyfriend or girlfriend for you. I’m all about giving people the benefit of the doubt, but people talk and sometimes you just have to listen to what they say, especially if it’s about your crush. Typically, players don’t really deserve the benefit of the doubt, unless they’re truly trying to “change.” Like the great Taylor Swift said, “the players gonna play, play, play, play, play.”
Listen up, if someone you’ve got the “hots” for is doing any of the following, odds are they’re just not that into you.
1. Constantly wanting to “Netflix and chill.”
2. Posting on social media, but hasn't responded to your texts in two days.
3. Wants to have “movie night” (it’s adorable to think they actually want to watch "Pitch Perfect" with you).
4. Constantly drunk dials you (being the only time you talk on the phone).
5. Shielding their phone screen.
6. Constantly turns everything on you, “you’re the one who doesn’t trust me.”
7. “Hey what’s up?” at 2:30 a.m., seriously dude?
8. Passing them at the student center, they won’t say anything, then conveniently getting a text (how thoughtful).
9. They’re always the “victim.”
10. They’d rather go to Cookout or Taco Bell than go on a real date.
11. You notice that on their phone, there are a ton of unsaved numbers (hmmm, wonder why?)
12. This whole thing started when they slid into your DMs
13. Seeing them out and they don’t excitedly come over and say "hello," instead you get a head nod and “sup?”
14. They have every excuse in the book as to why they messed up, no matter what it is.
15. Going out in public together never seems like a good idea to them.
While these may seem like obvious signs of someone not being interested in you, sometimes we like to see the positive in someone. Be careful, sometimes keeping our guard up is the best thing we can do when just getting to know someone. On the other hand, maybe trusting someone until they give you a reason not to is the best solution. Ultimately, the decision is up to you. Be cautious, have fun and hopefully you’ll find a significant other.
