15 Reasons Millennials Love Hilary Duff
People Magazine

Wednesday, January 13, 2016 marked 15 years since the Hilary Duff graced our televisions as the adorable, sassy and all-too-real Lizzie McGuire. Now the 13 year old blonde is all grown up and promoting the second season of her new TV Land show "Younger" where she plays Kelsey Peters: a 20-something book editor who has no idea her co worker is a 40 year old posing as a 26 years old. Many of us grew up along side the original Disney Channel star gone pop- singer, but there are so many more reasons than that why Millennials identify with her.

1. Her inner monologue on Lizzie McGuire was able to say and do all the things we never could.

Now that I'm older I have a new appreciation for the sarcastic nature of cartoon-lizzie and how dauntless she was in her expression of emotion.

2. She knows how to have her kid travel in style:

No sir, I have no idea why my carry-on is over the weight limit...

3. As an actress, singer, and author Hilary Duff is a triple threat.

This one speaks for itself. Is there anything she can't do?

4. She is up to date on all the hair dying trends.

5. She's the epitome of an early 2000's child.

And the reason every 8 year old got choppy bangs and over accessorized. Wait... was that just me?

6. "Why Not" was everyone's Friday Night Anthem.

Don't lie to me I know you sang it into your hairbrush too!

7. Her Christmas Album is straight-fire. She heard Santa on the radio. Come on.

It's not Christmas for me until I've played this album while wrapping presents. I find this album extremely under-appreciated. Everyone give it some love next Christmas, or right now- I won't judge.

8. She worked with some of the biggest 2000's Heartthrobs. Living every 12 year old girl's dream.

See reasons 9-11

9. Exhibit A: Aaron Carter

We were all Miranda when we watched this episode.

11. Exhibit B: Chad Micheal Murray

Swoon

12. Exhibit C: "Casper the Friendly Ghost"

He's the most Heartthrob worthy of them all: sweet, sensitive, see through...

11. She was on "Law & Order: SVU."

DUN-DUH

12. She is one of the few Disney Stars who didn't rebel against her clean-cut image.

13. She acknowledges (and embraces) her awkward years.

On the Cosmopolitan Snapchat (one of my obsessions) she comments on the evolution of her red-carpet fashion beginning with the awkward years. Check it out here: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/celebs/i...

14. As Lizzie McGuire she went to Italy for her MIDDLE SCHOOL graduation and rocked out with herself as a pop-sensation.

What better way to end a show? My middle school NEVER would allow a trip this extravagant, nor would my parents let me go to Italy at 14 years old.

15. Lastly, Hilary Duff has never been afraid to be herself and taught us to do the same.

I think the most important factor playing into why so many of us love Hilary Duff is because we grew up with her, not only as Lizzie but as Hilary. Now Duff is back on our TVs with "Younger" playing a college graduate figuring out her life as many of her fans are trying to find themselves. Thank you, Hilary Duff, for sharing pieces of your life with us.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
