Nominated for 16 Tony Awards and already the recipient of both Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater, the musical Hamilton is leaving "The world turned upside down." The story is based off of the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton and is told through rap/hip-hop music. The hit Broadway show is popular with all audiences because the story has something for everyone: history, romance, adventure, the struggles of an underdog, war, and humor. The lyrics are written by Lin Manuel-Miranda have earned him a Pulitzer Prize. The songs are both brilliant and beautiful; they make the show feel personal (especially when they get stuck in your head). Here are 15 quotes from Hamilton we should all live by:
1. "Do not throw away your shot."
Alexander Hamilton was always focused on what he could do to get himself to the top. The show reminds us to make the best out of every moment in order to follow our dreams.
2. "I'm looking for a mind at work."
Even though women were not allowed to serve in the army or in government, certain women were driven to do whatever they could to support the efforts during the revolution. Today, historic figures like Angelic and Eliza Schuylar show us that women can be beautiful and demand respect.
3. "We push away what we can never understand, we push away the unimaginable."
The struggles of disease, relationships, and unexpected tragedies leave us wondering what we can really handle. Hamilton shows us that something things get worse before they get better and that we must take a break and spend some time where "It's quiet uptown."
4. "I don't have a dollar to my name, an acre of land, a troop to command, dollop of fame. All I have's my honor, a tolerance for pain, a couple of college credits, and my top-notch brain."
This is one of the most clever minds in the show that reminds us just how much we can accomplish with very little.
5. "History has it's eyes on you."
The whole show incorporates several Founding Fathers who were inexperienced and scared about the future of their country. Without their genuine care for the nation and its people, we would not have the democratic government we have today.
6. "Look around, look around, at how lucky we are to be alive right now."
Whenever Alexander Hamilton got caught up in what he was doing, Eliza was there to ground him. As a wife, she not only supported his efforts, but helped remind him that he had already done so much and therefore had a lot to be grateful for.
7. "Life doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints. It takes and it takes and we keep loving anyway. We laugh and we cry and we break and make our mistakes. And if there's a reason I'm still alive when so many have died I'm willing to wait for it."
One of the best things about this show is that the story is timeless.; all of the characters are searching for their life purpose and place in the ever-changing world. Aaron Burr is one of the characters who explains this dilemma quiet beautifully in the song "Wait for It."
8. "And when my time is up, have I done enough?"
Because he was surrounded with death in his early years, Alexander Hamilton was obsessed with making the most of the time that he had. He spent his time dedicated to the work of this country serving in America's army, President Washington's cabinet, and the Constitutional Convention.
9. "Rise up! When you're living on your knees you gotta rise up!"
As previously mentioned, the story told in Hamilton is one everyone in the audience can relate to. Specifically, the story sheds light on how the people coming to this country had nothing in their pockets but were still able to fight for what they believed in.
10. "The moments when you're in so deep, it seems easier to just swim down."
At many times during his career, Alexander Hamilton was faced stumbling blocks. The show's lyrics and music show that no matter how great and invisible the Founding Fathers seemed, they were still vulnerable and afraid at times.
11. "For once in your life, take a stand with pride. I don't understand how you stand to the side."

12 . "You have no control: Who lives, who dies, who tells your story."
Many of us think that if we do as much as we can, we can try and "control fate." However, the story of Hamilton shows us that sometimes not what we do, but the people we are doing those things with are more important.
13. "Dying is easy, living is harder."
In moments of defeat, we must hold on. No matter how hard it is for us, there is always someone that has it harder. We need to surround ourselves with people that support us to help us carry on.
14. "But we'll never be truly free until those in bondage have the same rights as you and me."
While the work of the Founding Fathers did bring previously unheard of freedoms to this country, it did not bring freedom to all. Today we still must strive for :life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
15. "What is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see."
Well Alexander Hamilton, you left a legacy that will be admired by many in years to come.
