There are three people you will meet throughout your life. 1. The person that doesn't listen to music at all (I think they are secretly goblins that live under a rock). 2. The people that enjoy music, but are not actively involved in the scene. 3. The music maniac. The lyric lover.
So, which are you? If you relate to number three, then you probably face problems an a daily basis: struggles that non-music addicts will never fully understand. Problems like:
1. Your earphones always manage to get tangled.
It doesn't matter what you do. Your headphones are nicely rolled up and put carefully in your pocket. As always, when you pull them out to block out the outside world, they are a hot, tangled mess.
2. You don't have enough time in the world to listen to all of the music.
There is the old songs, the new songs, the new artists, the remixes, the covers, and everything in between. It is nearly impossible to listen to everything. You find a new song you love, but you want to listen to the artist's other music, your daily jams, and everything else on top of that. There is not enough time in the day.
3. Your friends expect you to know every song.
When that awesome song comes on in the car and your friends all look at you waiting for you to spout of a title, artist, genre, and all of their albums. Guys, we don't know everything.
4. You never know what you want to listen to.
You have "chronic shuffle disease". You are constantly clicking 'next' and probably won't find the song you want to listen to until you are a block away from your destination.
5. You don't have enough money in the world to go to the all the concerts you want.
Concerts are wonderful; the inability to get off for work, bills, and other adult responsibilities are not so wonderful. There are so many concerts and so little time. Free concerts and time off from work would be true miracles.
6. You can't find a song online, because you can't remember the lyrics.
Unfortunately, you can not Google search a series of noises and bass drops. Googling "na na nanana oooooo" *guitar solo* will not get you very far.
7. You have to share the aux cord with other people.
Once you know a car ride is about to ensue, controlling the aux cord is a battle you must win. #DJstatus
8. You have a playlist for every occasion.
Your list of playlists is "too long" to some, but to you, it is the reassurance that at almost any moment, you have the music you want and need; when you want to dance, jam in the shower, focus on studying, or cry. There is a playlist for nearly everything.
9. You get mad when everyone gets excited about a "new" artist, even though you have known them forever.
Excuse me, but you know (insert artist here)? You think you love them? Well, I have known them since their first album. I bet you can't name a song from them that hasn't been played on the radio in the last week. Yeah... That is what I thought.
10. You can't imagine a better feeling than live music booming through your body.
There is a euphoric feeling that comes with live music. The beats of the drum shake you to your core. The strums of the guitar and bass pull at your heart string. The lyrics whisper sweet nothings in your ears. There is nothing quite like it.
11. Your heart breaks when you show someone a song and they don't like it.
You can't help but have your heartbroken. Music is your soul and when someone wise doesn't like it, you can't help but be heartbroken. The connection that was once there may not be fully intact. So, if you are a non-music lover, appreciate your friends' music. It will save your friendship in the long run.
12. You can only be fixed with music.
It doesn't matter what is going on in your life; music is always there and can make even the worst days bearable. Music is the only medicine.
13. You can never get the music to be loud enough.
Whether you bust your headphones by exceeding the volume level or upset the neighbors with the loud jams, you just can never get your music to be loud enough. Don't worry... the possibility of going deaf is totally worth it.
14. You can't help but feel invincible when you listen to music.
You know that scene in a movie when the good guy is walking away and something blows up behind him and then he continues to walk away? It is always paired with an epic tune. With music, I can do anything.
15. You can't get the lyrics out of your head.
We have no issue memorizing lyrics, but when it comes to memorizing something for school your memory suddenly doesn't want to work.
Although, being a music lover isn't so bad. There are problems far worse. You could not like music at all...
