What says "I love you" better than, "I'm suing you?" R&B singer Ciara has recently hit her ex and the father of her child, Future, with a $15 million dollar lawsuit. The two have gone back-and-forth all year over social media, and interviews about their break-up and it looks like its about to get even messier.
According to details of the lawsuit released by Daily Mail, Ciara is accusing the rapper of lying, missing drug tests and declining visits with their son Baby Future. Future is also being sued for libel, and defamation of character due to his series of tweets posted on Jan. 4.
Truth be told, Ciara probably won't get that $15 million, but it should still be a win-win for the "I Bet" singer. We know breakups can be messy, but this one has been a little over the top. Ever since Ciara has been dating her new boo Russell Wilson, quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks, the rapper has had a mouthful to say about his ex-fiance. Remember during the summer in July when Future told HuffPost Live that the two use to pray after sex? He always seems to have something to say about his ex, and it's more than disrespectful.
Now, I do believe Ciara has played a part in some of the shade that has been thrown between the two, but it should never be acceptable for a man to disrespect a woman, much less the mother of his child. I've always been taught that if you don't have anything nice to say you shouldn't say anything at all.
As a celebrity, there is also a level of responsibility you have to accept. People are always watching, and with the amount of buzz Future has had this past year with his monthly releases of music — he should know all eyes are on him. To make matters worse, he has a daughter. How would he feel if she grows up and is talked about on social media by some boy?
Regardless of whether Ciara actually wins, the lawsuit itself makes a statement. You can't publicly talk down to someone, especially the mother of your child. If he really is having a hard time with communicating and co-parenting with Ciara, he should deal with it in a responsible manner. Take her to court if you have to. He obviously wasn't stressing too hard.
