15 Life Lessons We Learned From 'Boy Meets World'

Throughout the 90s and early 2000s, Boy Meets World always stood as a prominent feature of my after school activities. I, like many of my friends, would return from school plop down in front of the television and watch as Cory Matthews, Topanga Lawrence, and Shawn Hunter would face hardships, laughter, and wisdom (mostly imparted by Mr. Feeny). These are 15 life lessons we have all learned from Boy Meets World.

1. You don't have to be blood to be family.

Throughout the television series, friends were always treated like family. It was never about who you were related to, but who you love and would do anything to protect.

2. Growing up is hard.

Especially when you have Eric Matthews as your older brother.

3. It's okay to show your silly side.

Whether it's dancing around the kitchen with your best friend, causing mayhem in the hallways, or scheming to get the girl, letting loose and laughing at yourself are easy ways to lead a happier life.

4. Some of the greatest moments are spent with your best friend.

5. Show the people you care about that you love them.

Letting people know they are loved and cared about is the hardest thing, but sometimes the ones around us are need to hear it the most.

6. You don't have to give up your identity to be in a relationship.

Cory and Topanga never lose sight of who they are and stay true to themselves despite the roller-coaster of their relationship.

7. Screw body image.

Life is short, so eat pizza.

8. Never settle for anything less than what you deserve.

These two still are #relationshipgoals. They fight for each other and constantly build each other up when the other is down.

9. Small changes can change your whole outlook.

Change is hard. But if we take it one step at a time, we can move our whole life forward.

10. Don't mess with Mr. Feeny.

11. Find ourselves.

As we grow up and mature, we aren't always sure who we are. But it is up to us to decide (with the help of our family and friends of course).

12. Be passionate about the things you love...

No matter how insignificant.

13. Dance like nobody is watching.

14. Be confident...

Because you are fabulous.

15. Always listen to Mr. Feeny.

He knows exactly what you need to hear.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
