As I'm writing this Josh Gates from 'Expedition Unknown' is tracing the vampire legend in Romania and Halloween weekend is wrapping up.

I've always been fascinated with the magic and mystical creatures that are typically associated with this time of years. Stories of vampires, hauntings, and witches with magic spells have always excited me, and I've always found the history behind them just as fascinating. But this year more than any other I've really become aware of just how much scarier the real world can be than fantasy.

Here's a list of 20 things that scare me more than the vampires ever could.

1. Donald Trump could be the next President of the United States

2. More than 70% of US college graduates have student loan debt.

3. 21% of children in the US live below the poverty line.

4. We are losing or significantly damaging upwards of 160,000 acres of rainforest a day.

5. The Syrian Civil War has caused 4.8 million refugees and 6.6 million internally displaced persons.

6. Wild bee populations are falling in 39% of US farmland areas.

7. There are more than 21 million enslaved persons in the world today.

8. It is estimated that 20-25% of college females in the US will be a victim of sexual assault.

9. Heather Bresch, the Mylan CEO that oversaw the astronomical rise of EpiPen prices, is the daughter of US Democratic Senator Joe Manchin.

10. More than 80% of the world's population lives on less than $10 a day.

11. One-third who have heard of the Holocaust believe it was either greatly exaggerated or didn't happen at all.

12. Only 20% of US citizens believe human activity is primarily responsible for global climate change.

13. There have been 142 school shootings in the US since 2003.

14. At any point in the US there are as many as 2 million impaired drivers on the road.

15. More than half of pilots admit to falling asleep while flying.

So the next time someone tells you to stop living in a fantasy world, remind them that fantasy can be so much better than reality.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
