15 Things That Make Girls Cry

Not going to lie, I teared up writing this article...

15 Things That Make Girls Cry

First of all, this article is not meant to insult women because crying is not a weakness. I’d like to believe I’m a strong and independent woman, but that doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally cry at some of the dumbest things. We’re human and have feelings; sometimes too many feelings. There are times where we just can't help but shed a few tears, sometimes even when there’s no good reason to. There are some things that will make girls cry every time; whether it’s sad or happy, it doesn’t matter. Here’s a list of those things. Warning: proceed with caution.

1. Puppies/kittens/any baby animals.

This also includes any pictures or videos of a baby animal. These sloths could bring a girl to tears.

2. Babies.

Their squeezable cheeks switch on the waterworks.

3. When men cry.

This is a biggie, especially when our dads cry. It makes our hearts break.

4. Videos of soldiers coming home.

Gets me every time. Even if I've seen this video five times.

5. Videos of dogs greeting returning soldiers.

This is 10 times worse, which means 10 times more tears.

6. Weddings.

I once spent two hours watching random people's weddings on YouTube. This is arguably the best one.

7.

Elderly couples.

Weddings are beautiful, but long marriages give us hope.

8. Reminiscing.

Sleepovers when we were 12 and get-togethers at 20 haven't changed much because story time always goes like this: "Remember that time when..."

9. Goodbyes.

Or even long-overdue hellos.

10. Sappy endings.

Girls love their romance novels and chick flicks. We rate the book or movie based on how hard we cried at the ending. No tears? Zero out of 10.

11. When anything is over.

Not only relationships and friendships that hurt to let go, but this could be the smallest of things, like finishing a Netflix series. Don't risk bringing up the last episode of "Gossip Girl" or "One Tree Hill."

12. Too much of any emotion.

We'll cry from frustration or from laughing too hard. We like to keep everyone on their toes.

13. Too drunk.

Too much alcohol makes us cry too. Try to keep us on the dance floor to avoid this one.

14. Food.

Or is this just me? #sorrynotsorry.

15. Anything during our time of the month.

This just about covers everything else.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

20255
bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

You cannot beat the beach. Believe it or not (which many people may not), New England has a long and beautiful coastline. Most of my high school summers were spent sitting on the Wall at Hampton Beach, getting sunburnt and eating Acai bowls from The Secret Spot. The Wall was the place to be both during the day and at night. We begin our days there with a KB's bagel and coffee, and end them with pizza and ice cream. It’s not a New England summer without that 4 p.m. text from someone, “Who wants to meet at the Wall tonight?” Nighttime is for Tripoli’s Pizza, the sound of waves, and wishes on shooting stars. Wednesday nights are especially important, as those are the nights that Hampton Beach sets off the weekly firework display.
