The start of a new year is without a doubt the biggest time for change. College students are often in favor of making resolutions, as they are in a time of their life that is meant to challenge them and foster personal growth. However, from personal experience, I can say that the pressures that come with being a college student do not provide the best environment for sticking to resolutions. Here are 15 resolutions that college students have likely already broken less than two months into 2016.
1. "Alright, time to get healthy. I'm going to go to the gym six days a week."
2. "I can't just exercise; I should really eat better too. No desserts in the dining hall for me!"
3. "And I am definitely going to stop ordering pizza at midnight to get myself through studying."
4. "I'm only going to go out once a week, if that."
5. "I'm going to try to get eight hours of sleep each night, for sure."
6. "I want to try to read one book a month just for fun."
7. "I'm definitely going to get all of my reading done before each class session."
8. "I'll start gathering sources for my research papers three weeks in advance, so I have plenty of time to write."
9. "I'm going to start studying for each exam a week before, so I can distribute the studying instead of cramming it all into the night before."
10. "I want to get all of my summer job and internship applications done before March, so they're out of the way."
11. "I'll definitely stop procrastinating in general; I really want to be more productive."
12. "I know I'm going to stop watching so much Netflix. It just distracts me from doing work."
13. "I want to write letters to all of my friends at other schools. It'll be a cute way to keep in touch and let them know I'm thinking of them."
14. "I'm going to call my family every couple of days to check in and let them know what's going on in my life."
15. "I know it hasn't happened in the past, but I know I'm going to stick to these this time. 2016 is my year!"
If you can identify with this article, don't worry! 2016 is far from over and there's still plenty of time to allow yourself to get to the person you want to become this year!
