This Sunday my pastor reminded me that being stressed is human. He explained that often times our generation finds it odd when we are going through trials when, in fact, we should expect it. Christ does not promise us a life of perfect joy but actually promises us the opposite.
Life won’t be perfect. It will get hard and you will feel like giving up. But as believers, we have a hope and a promise that within Christ we can persevere and overcome these trials. So here are a couple verses that remind you of that promise.
1. Psalm 50:15
I want you to trust in times of trouble so I can rescue you and you will give glory to me.
2. Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
3. Proverbs 3:6-5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
4. Titus 3:3-7
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
5. Psalm 18:16
He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.
6. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
7. Romans 8:13
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
8. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
9. Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid;do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
10. Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”
11. James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
12. Psalm 62:5-7
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.
13. Psalm 139:14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful;I know that full well.
14. Psalm 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing to you, oh Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer.... Keep your heart rooted in the word and it will show by our actions and words. Good reminder to please God and not the world.
15. Mark 5:36
Jesus told him, 'Don’t be afraid; just believe.'
