14 Ways To Prevent Boredom Over Christmas Break

This is the time of the year where your excitement for Christmas break ends because you're dying of boredom being at home. Here's how to survive Christmas break without your squad:

1. Volunteer.

Christmas is the best time of the year to volunteer and help others. There are so many ways to get involved in your community and volunteering is a great start. You can even do it as a family or with a group of friends from home.

2. Bake.

Christmas is also the best time to improve your baking or cooking skills! Also it’s easier to convince yourself eat junk food around the holidays.

3. Bother your siblings.

If I had siblings who lived at home, then you better believe that I would spend all my time away from school bothering them. Bother your siblings while you have the chance. After all, the holidays are all about spending time with your family.

4. Sleep.

Catch up on your sleep! You deserve it.

5. Binge watch everything.

You also deserve that. Watch all the shows: "House of Cards," "The Walking Dead," "Pretty Little Liars," "Sherlock," "Grey's Anatomy," "The Office," etc.

6. Watch every Buzzfeed video on YouTube and take every single quiz.

You won’t regret it. You’ll learn a lot about yourself through those totally legit quizzes.

7. Finally start crafting the 148 pins from your DIY Pinterest Board.

I guarantee that those crafts will make great Christmas gifts for your friends and family! Plus homemade gifts are always the best because it shows that you care enough to spend time making it for them.

8. Clean out your closet!

Make a donation to GoodWill or the Salvation Army this Christmas.

9. Reconnect with friends from high school.

They’re probably also bored at home in your boring hometown.

10. Visit with your grandparents.

One day, you won’t be able to anymore and you’ll miss the days of going to their house and being force-fed delicious, homemade food and candy every 30 minutes.

11. Visit your old high school.

Some may say that going back to high school so quickly after graduating is weird or stupid, but you should go back and thank some of your teachers for their guidance and the knowledge that they bestowed upon you. It would make their day to know how well you’re doing at college because they helped you get to this point.

12. Spend time with your parents.

They actually miss you when you’re gone so you should probably spend some time with them.

13. Watch some terrible Lifetime and Hallmark Channel Christmas movies.

They’re hilarious and everyone should appreciate their horrific quality and writing.

14. Plan out your road trips to visit your college friends.

Because God knows you can’t spend a whole month without them.

When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
