14 Ways To Have The Best Galentine's Day
Parks and Recreation Wiki

Ahhh Valentine's Day. A time where everything is pink and purple and red. Where there's chocolate and flowers galore. Some people, specifically single people, hate the holiday, but I think it's a nice time to show those you care about how much you love them. One of these ways, coined by "Parks And Recreation," is by spending time your best gal pals and celebrating Galentine's Day. Don't know what to do for Galentine's Day? Don't worry! I've got some ideas.

1. Go to brunch.

Mimosas and waffles? Leslie Knope would totally agree with the latter.

2. Have a wine and movie night.

Suggestions include "The Princess Diaries" and some white zinfandel. Maybe break out some chocolate too.

3. Have a fun day out.

Last year my friends and I just walked around Santa Monica and it was so nice out and so much fun. Just drive somewhere nice and hang out. Don't even plan anything. Just get in the car, drive, and you'll end up somewhere.

4. Relive your elementary school sleepovers.

a.k.a. makeovers, doing each other's hair, and reading J-14 (does that still exist?)

5. Go for a hike.

If you're more of an adventurous type, take a trip into nature and relieve some stress.

6. Do something touristy.

If you live near a touristy area, go be a tourist! Do you know how much people pay to visit the place where you live? Why not celebrate a holiday with something different? It's even more fun when you pretend to be an over-the-top tourist.

7. Run some errands.

Why not be productive? But also with friends!

8. Have a game night.

Similar to a movie night, but slightly more social.

9. Go get some dessert!

Or bake your own! The possibilities are endless!

10. Go out dancing!

Go have fun dancing to some great music and forget your worries.

11. Karaoke!

Similar to dancing, but SINGING! How fun!

12. Give your friends those cheesy Valentine's cards.

I guarantee your friends will be SO excited about getting a glittery pizza temporary tattoo. Helpful tip: the dollar store has an excellent selection.

13. Don't do ANYTHING.

The only rule to Galentine's Day is to spend it with the ladies you love.

Other than that, there's absolutely NO pressure to how you spend it. If you don't want to do anything special, then don't. Just spend time with your closest girlfriends.

14. Watch the Galentine's Day episode of "Parks and Rec."

You gotta know where it all began before you celebrate. Season 2, episode 16.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
