When my parents divorced at age 6, it felt like no one else knew what I was going through. Now, 13 years later, it seems that I have more friends that parents are divorced than not. Whether it happened when you were little, or just recently, there are a few universal things that every kid with divorced parents can relate to.

1. Your suitcase packing skills are tetris level good.

You spend most of your time living out of a suitcase, so it's only natural that you've learned a trick or two throughout the years.

2. Didn't feel like hanging out with your friends? No problem. You always had this excuse.

It worked like a charm, too.

3. The infamous: "If you don't like it, then you can go live with your dad/mom."

If I had a dollar every time I heard this one..

4. The other infamous: "I'll pay half off *insert here* if your mom/dad pays the other half."

Business skills were definitely acquired during this process.

5. Meticulously keeping track of whose turn it was to do what.

God knows your parents can't be in the same room, so parent teacher conferences, sports practices, and and major holidays were always pre-planned.

6. The dreaded summer split.

You spent half the summer with your mom and the other with your dad, expect transitioning over was the worst.

7. You relate to Ms. Doubtfire on a spiritual level

Ahh, still gets me every time.

8. When people give you the “Oh, I’m so sorry look” when they find out.

No, really its fine. Now please stop looking at me like that. Thanks.

9. You tend to put up emotional walls, whoops?

Can you really blame us though?

10. Your parents are never agree on anything unless its your punishment.

*Gets roasted from every angle*

11. When your parents pause their “my whole marriage was a mistake rant” to make sure you know that you were the only good thing to come of it.

Well you're not wrong mom.

12. You cringe when you hear someone say you were raised in a “broken home."

13. But...You can't really imagine your life with your parents together.

I'd rather my parents be happy than stay together for my sake.

14. ANNDDD you get two birthdays, christmases, etc.

That means double the presents people!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
