14 Things That Are True If Your Siblings Are Your Best Friends

I never understood what it was like when my friends would say that they hated being around their siblings or would constantly fight with them. When I was growing up, my older sister and brother were my best friends, and 21 years later, they both still are.

1. They actually won't tell mom and dad

They know you weren't really sleeping at your friends house, and you remember that time you caught them sneaking in through your bedroom window. When your close siblings, there is a shared code to not tell mom and dad.

2. You talk to them on a daily basis

It is not unlikely to wake up from text messages from them or to call them at the end of the long day. You always want to tell them the important highlights from your day.

3. You're constantly sending each other pictures through the day

Whether it's ugly selfies or a picture of the crazy lady you saw in the grocery store, your data for picture messaging is through the roof. Sometimes you can't always express yourself through words.

4. You cancel plans with your friends to hang out with your siblings

It wouldn't be surprising to your friends if you canceled mall plans with them to go to the mall with one of your siblings.

5. You actually try when picking out Christmas gifts

Christmas is the time to show your siblings just how much you appreciate them, so you always spend extra time picking out their Christmas gift. They also never seem to disappoint (thanks, guys). It has to be epic.

6. You miss them when you are away at school

Sometimes it doesn't feel right waking up in your dorm, there are days where you really miss being either down the hall or a couple minutes away from each other. It is hard not being able to drive to wherever they are -- you are all trying to adult and it stinks.

7. Thank goodness for Facetime

Thank goodness for Facetime because of those bad days where you just need to have some sibling bonding time. Face timing with them is just enough to feel like you are home together hanging out.

8. You bond over the aggravating things all families do

It is priceless to have a family member that can understand and appreciate all the things that drive you nuts. When you have someone to vent to, it makes those habits just that more bearable.

9. When you come home from school, they are the first people you make plans with

OK, what are we doing today?

10. They are your best dark secret keepers

There is no one that you can rely on to keep your darkest secrets to than your siblings. You both really know too much.

11. Their approval is crucial to you

Their opinion of you is crucial and disappointing them is literally the worst. Their opinion of your friends and significant other really influences your actions and who you surround yourself with.

12. They are your favorite person to have the occasional drink with

The occasional trip to happy hour (21 and older) where you can laugh and talk about everything that you have missed while you away are what you live for when you are home.

13. They are your number one fan

If you get a great grade on your test or that cute boy finally talked to you, they are the first person you call and the first person to congratulate. They come to all your softball games and are always on the sidelines cheering you on.

14. You love them unconditionally

There is no love greater than the one you have for your siblings. They are your better halves and you are thankful for them every day. I love you guys, thanks for everything.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
