The 14 Struggles Of A Bad Cook

Some people claim they "can't cook" just because they mess up a recipe or char their toast a little. However, constantly making sub-par and inedible food is a daily struggle for those who truly are terrible cooks. These are 13 truths for anyone who can't cook:

1. You burn everything.

No. But you ACTUALLY burn everything. I didn’t even know you could burn pasta.

2. Frozen dinners are everything.

All that frozen-y goodness has such potential.

3. Sometimes you forget you can’t cook…

...until your food turns out to be inedible.

4. You’re used to the smoke alarms going off.

It’s basically just white noise at this point.

5. Your friends pity you.

But you usually have other people cooking for you because they feel bad.

6. Cereal is actually bae.

Bowl. Milk. Cereal. Eat. It’s the easiest and least stressful meal you can possibly make.

7. You get anxiety just thinking about cooking your next meal.

You’re all out of mac and cheese, soup, and pre-made food. What now??

8. You’ve tried it all.

Different recipes, cook books, even watching YouTube videos. Nothing works.

9. Pinterest will never be attainable.

I mean, LOOK AT THAT! How can anyone make food look like that?

10. The microwave is your only friend.

The less buttons the better. It understands what you need it to do and does it fast.

11. You’re often confused by kitchen appliances/tools and how to use them.

What even is this, and it does WHAT?

12. Even the simplest directions seem impossible.

You can Google it, ask someone, or reread a million times... you still don't understand how.

13. Even if you get directions right, there is no guarantee it will taste good.

Somewhere you clearly went wrong.

14. But actually, you BURN EVERYTHING.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
