Many people say that sexism is nonexistent and an outdated concept. What these people don't realize is that women encounter micro-aggressions every day. Constant comments that objectify, stereotype, and shame women normalize their discrimination, and since they are so common, most people don't even realize how offensive these insults are, if at all. Are you unknowingly feeding into society's system of misogyny?

1. "You're pretty strong for a girl."

The last three words of this back-handed compliment are unnecessary and fundamentally wrong.

2. "He picks on you because he likes you."

This assertion contributes to the normalization of abuse in relationships. With this in mind, it's no wonder why one in three women in the U.S. are victims of domestic violence.

3. "You should go to college to get your MRS degree."

It's shallow to assume that every woman treasures marriage more than her own education.

4. "You're being bossy."

Whenever a woman exhibits too many leadership qualities, she gets put in her place and labeled as "bossy." On the other hand, when a man demonstrates leadership skills, he becomes the boss.

5. "You're a slut."

Slut-shaming is merely a double standard that allows men to have as many sexual conquests as they please while women get punished for the exact same acts.

6. "You should put your family before work."

Women should be encouraged to pursue their career with the same enthusiasm as men.

7. "Well, what were you wearing when you were raped?"

Victim-blaming is both irrational and insensitive, and a short skirt does not equal automatic consent.

8. "You can't wear that tank top to school. It's too distracting."

If someone finds my shoulders more intriguing than their education, than they are the ones that should be sent home, not me.

9. "Don't be such a prude."

If a woman has casual sex, she is considered dirty and immoral, but if she has little to no sexual partners she is considered uptight and boring. Society leaves no room for a happy medium. Either way, womens' sex lives are being criticized.

10. "You're single because you're too ambitious."

Women should never have to tone down their enthusiasm for success just to adjust to a man's superiority complex.

11. "Wait for him to text you."

This belief that girls cannot initiate a text conversation is ridiculous. A relationship shouldn't be based off the concept that the male dictates whether or not you talk that day.

12. "Calm down. Are you on your period?"

Brushing off someone's actual feelings because they might be on their period is unfair. How would men feel if their emotions were invalidated due to a bodily process they couldn't control?

13."Dress modestly to respect your body."

The amount of skin a woman covers with her clothing is not proportional to how much she respects herself.

14. "I make more money than you, but it's fair because you'll be less productive than me once you have kids."

The wage gap should not and cannot be validated under any circumstances.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
